'Live from Abbey Road' to Get 'Best Of' Blu-ray (UPDATED)[teaser]The popular cable concert series 'Live at Abbey Road' is coming to high-def, with the November Blu-ray compilation release 'Best of Season One.'[/teaser] Compiling performances from a star-studded roster of over two dozen top music artists, 'Live From Abbey Road: Best of Season One' features tracks from such disparate acts as John Mayer, Dave Matthews, Iron Maiden, Goo Goo Dolls, LeAnn Rimes, and Gnarls Barkley. BCI Home Entertainment will debut the Blu-ray on November 11. According to Cliff MacMillan, Director of Acquisitions at BCI, the disc will be anamorphic widescreen 1080i (1.78:1). 'Lucky Number Slevin' Gets November Blu-ray Date[teaser]In an early announcement to retailers, Weinstein Co. has set a mid-November Blu-ray bow for the crime drama 'Lucky Number Slevin.' [/teaser] Two years after its HD DVD release, Weinstein/Genius will bow the $30 million-grossing cult pic on Blu-ray November 18 with a comparable set of specs. Spread across a BD-50 dual-layer disc, the film will be presented in 1080p video and English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround audio. Extras include a pair of filmmaker commentaries, the "Making of Lucky Number Slevin" featurette, and deleted scenes. As with the HD DVD, an added exclusive to the Blu-ray is the additional featurette "An Intimate Conversation with Josh Hartnett and Lucy Liu." 'Ghost' to Haunt Blu-ray this December[teaser]After a delay of more than a year, Paramount has given the supernatural blockbuster 'Ghost' a late-December Blu-ray bow.[/teaser] Originally set for release on HD DVD and Blu-ray in mid-2007, Paramount subsequently yanked the Oscar-nominated Patrick Swayze-Demi Moore starrer from its next-gen schedule. Now high-def fans can mark December 30 on their calendars, when the studio will finally issue the film on Blu-ray in special edition form. 'Sisterhood' Traveling to Blu this November[teaser]Warner has announced it is bringing the distaff summer sequel 'The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2' to Blu-ray this November.[/teaser] Featuring the return of Amber Tamblyn, America Ferrara, Alexis Biedel, and Blake Lively, 'Traveling Pants 2' outgrossed the original with a nearly-$50 million domestic haul. 'Heartbreak Kid' Headed to Blu-ray[teaser]Adding another "catch up" title to their Blu-ray catalog, DreamWorks has announced a mid-December release for the Ben Stiller comedy 'The Heartbreak Kid.'[/teaser] Originally released on HD DVD in late 2007, this remake of the 1972 cult favorite (starring Charles Grodin in the Stiller role) barely earned $35 million at the domestic box office. DreamWorks will give the Farrelly Brothers-directed farce another shot when it hits Blu-ray on December 16. 'Hellboy II' Blu-ray to Include Exclusives, BD-Live[teaser]Universal has unveiled final specs for the two-disc Blu-ray release of 'Hellboy II: The Golden Army,' which will hit high-def with hours of exclusive content and DTS-MA 7.1 audio.[/teaser] As previously announced, the $75 million-grossing fantasy sequel will make its Blu-ray debut on November 18 (day-and-date with the standard DVD) in two-disc special edition and 3-disc limited edition versions. Now full specs are in for the two-disc version, which is sure to impress fans with its wealth of features. Confirmed extras include a pair of audio commentaries with director Guillermo del Toro, and cast Jeffrey Tambor, Selma Blair & Luke Gross, multiple featurettes ("Hellboy: In Service of the Demon," "Troll Market Tour with Guillermo del Toro," "Production Workshop"), deleted scenes (including an animated "Comic Zinco Epilogue" to the film), a "Comic Book Builder" interactive feature, multiple still galleries, the complete script, and Digital Copy. Paramount Revving Up 'Hot Rod' for Blu-ray[teaser]Paramount has announced a mid-December bow for the Andy Samberg racing comedy 'Hot Rod.'[/teaser] Trailing the late-2007 HD DVD release by over a year, Paramount will debut the $25 million-grossing racing farce on Blu-ray December 16 (timed to coincide with the Blu-ray release of another just-announced comedy, 'Old School'). Paramount Readying 'Election' Blu-ray for January[teaser]Just in time for the inauguration of our next president, Paramount has announced a January Blu-ray bow for the 1999 cult comedy 'Election.'[/teaser] Starring Reese Witherspoon and Matthew Broderick, the teen satire of high school politics was previously released on DVD in 2000 as a relatively bare bones edition. Paramount has set a January 20 street date for the Blu-ray.
