Friedkin to Start Work on 'Exorcist' Blu-ray for 2009[teaser]In an online interview, director William Friedkin has revealed that he will begin work on a high-def version of 'The Exorcist' for Blu-ray release in 2009.[/teaser] Speaking to DVD Review UK, the Oscar-winning director confirmed that Warner is planning to start preparations in early December for a new edition of the 1973 horror classic. Friedkin had no further details on supplements or restoration plans for what is sure to be a highly-anticipated release, but we expect further word to emerge over the coming months. According to the director, Warner is currently eyeing a Fall 2009 Blu-ray release for 'The Exorcist.' As always, we'll keep you posted. Warner to Bring 'History of Violence' to Blu-ray[teaser]Warner has set an early-February Blu-ray date for the acclaimed crime drama 'A History of Violence.'[/teaser] Based on the popular graphic novel, the David Cronenberg-directed thriller is set to make its next-gen debut on February 10. (New Line previously released the film as a special edition DVD in 2005.) Extras for the release include audio commentary with Cronenberg, a "Violence's History" comparison of the U.S. theatrical and International versions of the film, a series of "Acts of Violence" vignettes that take a look at several central scenes in the film, additional footage, and the theatrical trailer. 'Amadeus' to Get Blu-ray DigiBook Release this February[teaser]After almost a year of anticipation, Warner has officially set an early-February Blu-ray debut for the Oscar-winning classic 'Amadeus.'[/teaser] Starring Tom Hulce and F. Murray Abraham, the critically-acclaimed, Milos Forman-directed musical biopic was originally expected to receive a Blu-ray release in 2008. Warner has at last confirmed a street date for the 1984 Best Picture winner, which will get the DigiBook treatment on February 10. Tech specs will see the 180-minute Director's Cut version of the film spread across a BD-50 dual-layer disc in 1080p/VC-1 video and English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround audio. Extras include an audio commentary with Foreman, as well as "The Making of 'Amadeus'" documentary. Also in the Blu-ray set will be a bonus CD sampler with ten musical selections from the film, and a Digital Copy of the Director's Cut (in SD). 'Wedding Crashers' Coming to Blu-ray[teaser]Warner has announced it is bringing the blockbuster comedy 'Wedding Crashers' to Blu-ray in late-December in both theatrical and unrated versions.[/teaser] Set to make its high-def debut on December 30, 'Wedding Crashers: Uncorked Edition' will feature both the 119-minute theatrical and 128-minute unrated cuts of the film. The $200 million-plus-grossing Vince Vaughn-Owen Wilson starrer will also include dual audio commentaries (with director David Dobkin, and Wilson and Vaughn), a pair of featurettes, deleted scenes, a music video and theatrical trailers. 'Pinocchio' to Get Platinum Blu-ray Release this March[teaser]Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced its next Platinum series Blu-ray release, marking a March debut for the animated classic 'Pinocchio.'[/teaser] The studio has confirmed a March 10, 2009 street date for 'Pinocchio: 70th Anniversary Platinum Edition,' which will mark the beloved 1940 classic's first trip to high-def. There are little official specs at this juncture, though early reports from Disney indicate that the Blu-ray will also include a DVD version of the film, BD-Live features, and newly-discovered deleted scenes and an alternate ending.
