Warner Sets December for Jim Carrey Blu-ray Double Header[teaser]Warner has announced an early-December Blu-ray release for a pair of classic Jim Carrey comedies, 'Dumb and Dumber' and 'The Mask.'[/teaser] Set to debut simultaneously on December 9, both 'Dumb and Dumber' and 'The Mask' will make their next-gen debuts with multiple bonus features. Extras on 'Dumb and Dumber' include a "Behind the Story" featurette, additional scenes, an alternate ending and the theatrical trailer. 'The Mask' will feature two audio commentaries with the filmmakers, four featurettes, additional scenes, and the theatrical trailer. 'Disaster Movie' Headed to Blu-ray[teaser]Bringing the latest "movie" spoof to high-def, Lionsgate has announced an early-January Blu-ray release for 'Disaster Movie.'[/teaser] The brainchild of Aaron Seltzer (the team behind 'Date Movie,' Epic Movie' and 'Meet the Spartans'), 'Disaster Movie' skewered big-budget Hollywood hits, though it failed to achieve the same blockbuster box office heights as its predecessors. The $20 million-grossing spoof will hit Blu-ray on January 6, day-and-date with the standard DVD. Final extras have yet to be revealed, though confirmed so far are an audio commentary with the filmmakers, making-of featurettes, and a Sing-Along feature. MVD Jumps Into Blu with Drive-In Trio[teaser]In a late-breaking announcement, next-gen newcomer MVD Entertainment Group has set a late-October date for the launch of their first wave of Blu-ray releases.[/teaser] The eclectic indie DVD distributor will jump into high-def on October 28, when it unleashes a trio of music and exploitation titles on Blu-ray. Included in the slate is the concert film 'Blackalicious: 4/20 Live in Seattle,' and the drive-in flicks 'Cannibal Taboo' and 'Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter' (which boasts the immortal tagline, "The power of Christ impales you!"). There are no tech or supplement details as of yet, but MVD is gearing their titles as low-priced next-gen offerings, so bonus features may be limited. Universal Bringing Latest 'Mummy,' 3-Pack to Blu-ray this December[teaser]In an early retail announcement, Universal says it is bringing the latest big-screen 'Mummy' adventure to Blu-ray this December, along with a three-pack collection of the complete trilogy.[/teaser] Starring Brendan Fraser, Maria Bello, and John Hannah, 'The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor' barely squeaked past the $100 million mark at the domestic box office this past summer. Universal will release the Rob Cohen-directed pic on December 16, day-and-date with the standard DVD. Early tech specs will see 1080p video and a DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround track.
