Paramount Planning 'Duchess' Blu-ray[teaser]Paramount has set a late-December Blu-ray date with 'The Duchess.'[/teaser] The Keira Knightley-Ralph Fiennes period drama, which grossed over $25 million at the domestic box office, will arrive on Blu-ray December 27 (day-and-date with the standard DVD). Tech specs will see 1080p video (2.40:1), English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround audio, and additional Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround dubs and subtitles in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese. 'The Rocker' Gets January Blu-ray Date[teaser]Fox has announced a late-January bow for 'The Rocker,' which will come to Blu-ray with hours of bonus features and Digital Copy[/teaser] Despite initial retailer reports indicating a Blu-ray release this year, Fox has finally confirmed Blu-ray details for the Rainn Wilson comedy, which will finally make its next-gen bow on January 27 (day-and-date with the standard DVD). The BD-50 dual-layer presentation will feature 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video, a DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround track, and Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround dubs and subtitle options in English, French, and Spanish. Extras boast a pair of audio commentaries with cast & crew, multiple featurettes ("Rainn Wilson: Office Rocker," "Pete Best Interview," "Behind The Band: Vesuvius," "Rock Beat With Fish Fishmanm," "The Music of The Rocker," "Rock Tales"), ten deleted scenes, a gag reel, MTV excerpts, a music video, exclusive podcasts and mock PSAs. 'Righteous Kill' Headed to Blu-ray[teaser]Anchor Bay is bringing the Al Pacino-Robert DeNiro thriller 'Righteous Kill' to Blu-ray in early January.[/teaser] The latest team-up of the Oscar-winning actors, the Jon Avnet-directed cop drama grossed nearly $40 million domestically. Anchor Bay will debut the Blu-ray on January 6, day-and-date with the standard DVD. Supplements announced so far include audio commentary with Avnet, a making-of featurette, additional behind-the-scenes footage and a Digital Copy of the film. Criterion Delays First Wave of Blu-rays[teaser]On the eve of its next-gen launch, Criterion has bumped the release of its initial wave of Blu-ray titles by over a month.[/teaser] As first announced earlier this Fall, Criterion had planned a batch of five classic titles for Blu-ray release this month, with all now being pushed back to later in the year. 'The Third Man', 'The Man Who Fell to Earth,' 'Bottle Rocket', and 'Chungking Express,' have all now been bumped to December 16. 'The Last Emperor,' will follow on January 6. Criterion has not cited any reason for the delay, nor any changes in specs or pricing information. As always, we'll keep you posted of any changes or further delays to Criterion's line-up. Fox Reveals 'Vanishing Point' Specs, Exclusives[teaser]Fox Home Entertainment has announced final specs for 'Vanishing Point,' which will come to Blu-ray with hours of all-new bonus features and exclusives. [/teaser] As announced earlier this month, Fox will debut the 1971 cult classic on February 24 in a first-ever special edition version. Just-confirmed tech specs will see both the US theatrical and UK extended versions (with 10 minutes of additional footage) presented on the same BD-50 dual-layer disc via seamless branching, in 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video and an English DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround track. Fresh extras include audio commentary by director Richard Sarafian, a pair of featurettes ("Built for Speed: A Look Back at Vanishing Point," "OA-5599”), the Interactive 1970 Dodge Challenger map, and TV spots.
