'Ingmar Bergman's Cinema: Collector's Edition' Announced for Blu-ray[Teaser]The 30-Disc Collector's Edition Box Set includes 39 films and a 248-page book and will be available on November 20. In honor of the legendary Swedish filmmaker's one hundredth birthday, the Criterion Collection is launching an array of releases and programming to celebrate this incomparable body of work.At the heart of this centennial celebration is Ingmar Bergman's Cinema, a thirty-Blu-ray collector's set, the most comprehensive collection of Bergman's work ever released on home video. Organized as a film festival-with opening and closing nights bookending double features and centerpieces-this selection spans six decades and thirty-nine films, including such celebrated classics as The Seventh Seal, Persona, and Fanny and Alexander alongside previously unavailable works like Dreams, The Rite, and Brink of Life. Showtime Orders New 'Halo' Live-Action TV Series[teaser]A new show based on the popular video game series is coming to Showtime.[/teaser] Showtime has ordered a live-action TV adaptation of the Halo video game franchise. The 10-episode season is set to enter production in 2019. "This is a truly exciting moment for the Halo franchise," stated Kiki Wolfkill, head of Halo Transmedia at 343 Industries. "Together with our creative and production partners at SHOWTIME and Amblin Television, the Halo television series will represent new and exciting way for fans to enter and engage with the Halo universe. Redbox Announces Same-Day Blu-ray & Digital Rentals for Warner Bros. Titles[teaser]Warner Bros. movies will be available to rent the same day that they hit stores.[/teaser] Redbox has signed a new agreement with Warner Bros. to offer same-day DVD and Blu-ray rentals through the company's kiosks. This means that new Warner Bros. titles will now be available to rent through Redbox the same day that they are released in retail stores for purchase. In addition, the deal also covers same-day rentals for Warner Bros. new-release and catalog digital tiles through Redbox On Demand. "We're thrilled to announce this day-and-date agreement with Warner Bros. that provides the consistently strong slate of Warner Bros. titles to consumers at their earliest physical retail sell-through availability," said Galen Smith, CEO of Redbox. "We appreciate the partnership with Warner Bros. in making their content accessible to Americans – whether for rental or purchase, on disc or On Demand." Prior to the new deal, there was a 7-day window before Redbox could start renting Warner Bros. titles once they were released on home video. The same-day rental agreement will kick off with several popular releases like Rampage on July 17 and Ready Player One on July 24. Outside of Warner Bros., Redbox also has same-day rental deals with Universal, Sony, and Lionsgate.
