'Steve Niles' Remains' Blu-ray Announced[teaser]A wave of shamblin', gamblin' zombies will invade Blu-ray this July. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Shout Factory will release 'Steve Niles' Remains' on Blu-ray on July 10. Reno may be the “Biggest Little City in the World,” but when a “Peace Bomb” nuclear test goes awry in the Nevada desert and turns most of the population into bloodthirsty zombies, the gambling Mecca becomes the biggest zombieland of all time in the highly popular apocalyptic thriller 'Steve Niles’ Remains.' Based on the highly acclaimed IDW Publishing graphic novel written by Steve Niles ('30 Days of Night'), 'Steve Niles’ Remains' is set in a chilling postapocalyptic Reno, Nevada, and follows the survivors of a bizarre accident that reduced most of the world’s population to zombies. The group takes refuge in a vacant casino and fights a losing battle against the undead, who grow steadily stronger, smarter and more aggressive by the minute. The movie stars Grant Bowler ('Killer Elite,' 'True Blood'), Lance Reddick ('Fringe,' 'Lost,' 'The Wire'), Miko Hughes ('Pet Sematary'), Evalena Marie ('Are We There Yet?'), Tawny Cypress ('Rescue Me,' 'Heroes') and Anthony Marks. Specs have yet to be revealed, but supplements will include: Audio commentary, a short prequel: Remains - Road to Reno, bloopers, TV spots and the trailer, and a Comic-Con teaser. 'Full Metal Jacket: 25th Anniversary Edition' Blu-ray Coming in July[teaser]Stanley Kubrick's acclaimed war drama is getting a 25th Anniversary digibook double dip with new content in July. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Warner Brothers will release 'Full Metal Jacket: 25th Anniversary Edition' in a Blu-ray digibook on July 3. 'The Artist' Blu-ray Release Date Changed[teaser]Michel Hazanavicius's acclaimed 2011 silent film is now arriving on Blu-ray in June. [/teaser] As previously reported, it seemed Sony's 'The Artist' was going to have a Blu-ray release on April 24, but now it looks like the new date is June 26. The film won the Best Actor Award at Cannes, the BAFTA for Best Film of the Year, and has 10 Academy Award nominations including Best Original Screenplay, Best Director, and Best Picture. 'Born on the Fourth of July' Announced for Blu-ray[teaser]Oliver Stone's 1989 war drama will ignite Blu-ray's fireworks just in time for Independence Day. Studio Ghibli's 'Castle in the Sky' Landing on Blu-ray[teaser]Disney releasing 'Castle in the Sky' on the same day as 'The Secret World of Arrietty'[/teaser] Disney continues to support its partnership with Studio Ghibli by partnering the Blu-ray release of 'The Secret World of Arrietty' with another Japanese animated classic, 'Castle in the Sky.' Both Ghibli releases will come out on Blu-ray May 22, 2012. 'Castle in the Sky' was produced in 1986 by Japanese animation master Hayao Miyazaki. It was his third film and was inspired by the stories of "Gulliver's Travels." Anyone who knows Miyazaki's work will be ecstatic about the news of this release from Disney. The English dub uses voices from well-known actors like Anna Paquin, James Van Der Beek, and Cloris Leachman. Fans of Studio Ghibli titles will surely want to be picking this one up. 'Jaws' Dated and Detailed for Blu-ray[teaser]The landmark film that still makes people afraid to go into the water is getting the royal Blu-ray treatment in August. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Universal Studios says 'Jaws' will have a Blu-ray release on August 14. One of the most influential motion pictures of all time and nominated for a Best Picture Academy Award®, 'Jaws' stars Oscar® winner Richard Dreyfuss and Oscar® nominees Roy Scheider and Robert Shaw. Produced by legendary filmmakers Richard D. Zanuck and David Brown, the film earned an Oscar® for composer John Williams’ instantly recognizable minimalist score, as well as Oscars® for Best Editing and Best Sound. When it was first released in 1975, JAWS smashed box-office records and became the highest-grossing film of its era, earning Spielberg a reputation as a Hollywood visionary. Today, it remains one of the highest-grossing films in motion-picture history and is largely considered the film that launched the summer blockbuster. 'Jaws' is one of 13 classic Universal films to be digitally remastered and fully restored from 35mm original film elements as part of Universal’s ongoing 100th Anniversary celebration. Following the picture restoration, Universal Studios Sound team up-mixed the iconic 'Jaws' soundtrack to DTS-HD Master 7.1, optimizing the sound on the Blu-rayTM for the latest home theater technology.
