'The Woman in Black' Announced for Blu-ray[teaser]The ghostly film starring Daniel Radcliffe will haunt Blu-ray next month. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Sony is working on 'The Woman in Black' for a Blu-ray release on May 22. The story follows a young lawyer who travels to a remote village to organize a recently deceased client's papers, where he discovers the ghost of a scorned woman set on vengeance. The Blu-ray/UV Digital Copy will feature 1080p video, a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack, and supplements will include: Commentary with director James Watkins and screenwriter Jane Goldman, Inside The Perfect Thriller: Making The Woman in Black, and No Fear: Daniel Radcliffe as Arthur Kipps. Dreamworks Movies Come to Walmart Disc-to-Digital[teaser]Both current and catalog titles will be available for use with the service. [/teaser] Walmart Disc-to-Digital just got a little more animated thanks to the addition of both current and catalog Dreamworks titles. Starting today you can bring your DVDs and Blu-rays into any participating Walmart and shell out for a Vudu version of the movie. As will all of the movies on the service, you'll pay $2 for an SD copy of a DVD or an HD copy of a Blu-ray, while an upgrade from SD to HD will run you $5. "Walmart is breaking new ground in helping consumers understand the opportunities of new technologies amid the changing digital landscape," says Dreamworks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Criterion Collection is preparing 'Metropolitan' for Blu-ray on July 24. One of the great American independent films of the 1990s, the surprise hit 'Metropolitan' by writer-director Whit Stillman is a sparkling comedic chronicle of a middle-class young man’s romantic misadventures in New York City’s debutante society. The Blu-ray will feature a 1080p transfer, an uncompressed monaural soundtrack, and supplements include: Audio commentary by Stillman, editor Christopher Tellefsen, and actors Chris Eigeman and Taylor Nichols; Rare outtakes and alternate casting, with commentary by Stillman; and a booklet featuring an essay by critic Luc Sante. 'The Last Days of Disco' will also be available on the same date. 'The Last Days of Disco' is a cleverly comic return to an early 1980s Manhattan party scene from director Whit Stillman. 'Age of the Dragons' Announced for Blu-ray[teaser]Captain Ahab will be hunting a great white dragon (you read that right: dragon) on Blu-ray this July. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Arc Entertainment is preparing 'Age of the Dragons' for Blu-ray on July 24. 'Age of the Dragons' is an adaptation of Herman Melville's classic novel Moby Dick. Set in a medieval realm where Captain Ahab and crew hunt dragons for the vitriol that powers their world, Ishmael, a charismatic harpooner and his friend Queequeg join their quest. Ahab's adopted daughter Rachel, beautiful and tough, runs the hunting vessel. Ahab's obsession to seek revenge on a great White Dragon that slaughtered his family when he was young and left his body scarred and mauled, drives the crew deeper into the heart of darkness. In the White Dragon's lair Ahab's Secrets are revealed and Rachel must choose between following him on his dark quest or escaping to a new life with Ishmael.
