'Ed Wood' Dated for Blu-ray[teaser]Tim Burton's biopic of the wackiest filmmaker ever to work in Hollywood is getting a Blu-ray release in September. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Disney/Buena Vista is working on 'Ed Wood' for a Blu-ray release on September 18. Johnny Depp ('Pirates of the Caribbean,' 'Chocolat,' 'Edward Scissorhands') stars as the high-spirited movieman who refuses to let unfinished scenes, terrible reviews, and hostile studio executives derail his big-screen dreams. With an oddball collection of showbiz misfits, Ed takes the art of bad moviemaking to an all-time low! The all-star cast features Bill Murray ('Lost In Translation,' 'The Royal Tenenbaums'), Sarah Jessica Parker (TV's "Sex and the City"), Patricia Arquette ('Stigmata'), and an Academy Award-winning performance by Martin Landau (Best Supporting Actor, 1994) as Bela Lugosi. 'Game of Thrones: The Complete First Season' Blu-ray Discontinued... And Reissued[teaser]We suspect Ichabod Crane was hired to silence the George W. Bush severed head controversy in July. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, HBO seems to be preparing to re-release 'Game of Thrones: The Complete First Season' on Blu-ray on July 10. In case you missed the news, a leftover prop head from George Bush was used as one of the severed heads in an episode on the show -- not as a political statement, but because that's what the prop department had lying around. But of course, some people started crying about it and as we all know when people start crying... reissues tend to happen. The head will apparently be removed from the reissued product since that is just easier than sending pacifiers out by mail. Specs and supplements are expected to match the discontinued version with a suggested list price of $79.98. You can find the latest specs for the neutered "The Sky is Falling' edition of 'Game of Thrones: The Complete First Season' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule, where it's indexed under July 10.Posted Mon Jun 25, 2012 at 06:00 AM PDT by: -

'Dial M for Murder - 3D' Announced for Blu-ray 3D![teaser]Alfred Hitchcock's 1954 thriller comes to Blu-ray 3D in October! [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Warner Brothers has set 'Dial M for Murder - 3D' for a Blu-ray 3D release on October 9. The film about a man who plots to murder his wife stars Ray Milland, Grace Kelly and Robert Cummings and is currently ranked #194 on IMDb.com's Top 250. According to WHV's Executive Vice President and General Manager of Theatrical Catalog, Jeff Baker, "Given the current trend toward 3D, we're delighted to be releasing this authentic classic 3D. This is not a conversion from 2D to 3D, but an original work, with a big tip of the cap to MPI, that illustrates just how good 3D can be. The Warner library has the largest number of classic 3D titles (15) of any studio and over the years we've been looking to release them, but not until now has the technology been perfected to the point we can do that. We're hoping 'Dial M for Murder' is the first of several classic 3D films to be released, with the long-awaited, much requested 'House of Wax' expected next." Specs have yet to be revealed, but supplements include Hitchcock and Dial M, 3D: A Brief History, and Original Theatrical Trailer. Suggested list price for the Blu-ray 3D/Blu-ray release is $35.99. You can find the latest specs for 'Dial M for Murder - 3D' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule, where it's indexed under October 9.Posted Fri Jun 22, 2012 at 10:50 AM PDT by: -
