'Korn: Live at Montreux' Coming to Blu-ray[teaser]Eagle Rock has announced the latest addition to their growing line-up of Montreux high-def releases, with the July Blu-ray release of 'Korn: Live at Montreux.' [/teaser] Featuring the final performance by the band's original line-up, 'Live at Montreux' features 13 blistering live cuts and will hit Blu-ray on July 1 (nearly two months after the release of the standard DVD on May 13). Eagle Rock has not yet unveiled specs for the Blu-ray, but we'll keep you posted. Suggested retail price has been set at $24.95. Sony Targets July Bow for 'In the Line of Fire' Blu-ray[teaser]Sony has announced an early-July debut for the Clint Eastwood thriller 'In the Line of Fire.'[/teaser] Also starring John Malkovich and Rene Russo, and directed by Wolfgang Petersen, the 1993 box office smash will arrive on Blu-ray July 1. Full tech specs have not yet been released, but early details include 1080p video and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround audio. Supplements are also not yet known, though there were extensive bonus features found on a 2001 special edition DVD, so we'll keep you posted. Lionsgate Plots 'Bank Job' Blu-ray for July[teaser]In a pre-announce to retailers, Lionsgate has set an mid-July bow for the Jason Statham crime-caper 'The Bank Job.'[/teaser] Directed by Roger Donaldson, 'The Bank Job' grossed $30 million at the domestic box office, and will debut on Blu-ray July 15 (day-and-date with the standard DVD). The studio has yet to issue tech specs or supplement details, but says the full media release is due in the days ahead, so watch this space. 'Other Boleyn Girl' Headed to Blu-ray[teaser]Making an early announcement to the trades, Sony Pictures has set a June debut for the period romance 'The Other Boleyn Girl.'[/teaser] Starring Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman in a story of romantic intrigue and deception, 'The Other Boleyn Girl' took home over $30 million at the domestic box office. Although Sony has yet to issue a press release for the title, they have placed a splashy ad in the trades announcing a Blu-ray release of June 10 (day-and-date with the standard DVD). Due to the early nature of the news there aren't confirmed tech specs available as of yet. However, extras are expected to include a pair of making-of featurettes and deleted scenes, with more TBA. Exclusive to the Blu-ray will be a Graphics-in-Picture track with behind-the-scenes info and trivia. Suggested retail price for the Blu-ray has been set at $38.96. Double Dose of 'Starship Troopers' Coming to Blu-ray[teaser]Sony Pictures has announced plans to bring 'Starship Troopers' and its latest direct-to-video sequel, 'Marauder,' to Blu-ray this July, both with Bonus View-enabled features.[/teaser] Originally announced for release on Blu-ray last year, only to be yanked by the studio at the last minute, Sony has now re-set Paul Verhoeven's cult classic 'Starship Troopers' for high-def release on July 29, concurrent with the release of the video premiere sequel 'Starship Troopers: Marauder' (the latter day-and-date with the standard DVD). Extras on the original 'Starship Troopers' include all of the bonus features found on the standard DVD release, including audio commentary with Verhoeven, a making-of documentary, alternate scenes, screen tests and additional behind-the-scenes footage. 'Marauder' will include two audio commentaries of its own with the filmmaking team, and two making-of featurettes. Both 'Troopers' and 'Marauder' will also feature exclusive picture-in-picture Bonus View (aka Profile 1.1) enhanced features, which will include additional commentary, making-of footage, and graphic and text content. Warner Reveals Specs, Box Art for 'Gotham Knight' Blu-ray[teaser]Warner has released specs and box art for 'Batman: Gotham Knight,' which will debut direct-to-Blu-ray this July with a host of bonus features.[/teaser] As previously reported, Warner and DC Universe announced a July 8 street date for the animated film (day-and-date with the standard DVD), though without final specs and box art. The full press details are now in, with the Blu-ray set to include 1080p/VC-1 video (1.85:1), with Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround audio in English and Japanese, plus Spanish and German Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround options. (Subtitles in all four languages are also included). Extras shared between both the Blu-ray and DVD include the documentary "A Mirror for the Bat: The Evil Denizens of Gotham City," the "Batman and Me: The Bob Kane Story" featurette, a pair of bonus episodes from 'Batman: The Animated Series' (personally selected by 'Gotham Knight' director Bruce Timm), and a special sneak peek at the upcoming DC Comics/Warner Premiere animated movie, 'Wonder Woman.' First Look: 'Natural Born Killers' Blu-ray Box Art[teaser]The Blu-ray won't arrive until early June, but we've got an early peek at the "book" box art for Oliver Stone's 'Natural Born Killers.'[/teaser] As we've previously reported, Warner has set a June 10 Blu-ray bow for the highly-controversial look at violence and tabloid culture, which will hit high-def in its 118-minute theatrical form. Announced tech specs include 1080p/VC-1 video (1.85:1) and English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround, along with English, French, and Spanish Dolby Digital and subtitle options. Among the extras ported over from the studio's previous DVD edition are audio commentary by Stone, a Charlie Rose Show interview with the director, deleted scenes, and the theatrical trailer. Housed in Warner's "book"-style packaging, also included is a 42-page booklet with rare production photos, press materials, and an original essay by Stone about the film and its controversies. 'Heroes' Double-Header Coming to Blu-ray this August[teaser]Universal has announced their first TV-on-Blu-ray release, with plans to bring the first two seasons of 'Heroes' to the format this August.[/teaser] Only hours after revealing their long-awaited debut wave of Blu-ray releases, Universal is already off and running with further announcements, now setting an August 26 Blu-ray debut for 'Heroes: Season One' and 'Heroes: Season Two' (the latter due day-and-date with the standard DVD set). Due to the early nature of the news, there are not yet any tech specs or supplement details available for either set (although 'Heroes: Season One' is expected to contain an extras package comparable to the feature-packed HD DVD version released last year). Universal has also not yet set a suggested list price for either 'Heroes' collection, but says full details should be revealed shortly, so we'll certainly keep you posted. Universal Details Plans For Blu-ray[teaser]Universal Studios is expected to announce plans today to begin issuing new release titles on Blu-ray starting this summer.[/teaser] As reported by Reuters/Hollywood Reporter, the studio, which had been one of the staunchest supporters of the HD DVD format, is expected to announce the recent theatrical release 'Doomsday' as their inaugural Blu-ray title, with approximately 40 other films following in the latter half of the year. Other titles singled out for Blu-ray release include the studio's upcoming films 'Hellboy II: The Golden Army,' 'The Incredible Hulk,' 'Wanted,' 'Mamma Mia,' and 'The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.' In anticipation of the new 'Mummy' film, Universal's first jump into the Blu-ray pool will come on July 22 with three films from the franchise, including the Brendan Fraser action adventures 'The Mummy,' 'The Mummy Returns,' and the spin-off 'The Scorpion King' starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Other titles mentioned for Blu-ray treatment include 'Land of the Dead, ' 'End of Days,' 'Knocked Up,' 'American Gangster,' 'The 40-Year-Old Virgin,' 'Miami Vice,' and 'U-571.'
