Starz Returns to Blu-ray with 'Sleepwalking'[teaser]After a next-gen hiatus of six months, Starz is back in the Blu-ray game with the early-July release of 'Sleepwalking.'[/teaser] The first Blu-ray title released by Starz/Anchor Bay since 'To Kill a King' this past February, the Charlize Theron starrer and Sundance Film Festival selection 'Sleepwalking' will hit high-def on July 8, day-and-date with the standard DVD. Tech specs include 1080p/AVC MPEG- video and uncompressed PCM 5.1 Surround audio. Supplements are slim, with only a single featurette, "A Mother's Shame, A Family's Pain: The Making of Sleepwalking." New Line Announces 'Dark City' Director's Cut Blu-ray[teaser]Confirming the rumors, New Line has announced a late-July Blu-ray debut for the cult classic 'Dark City,' which will hit high-def in a brand-new "Director's Cut."[/teaser] Speculation on a possible 'Dark City' high-def release had the web buzzing last month, after director Alex Proyas dropped hints that New Line was retooling the film for a new video release, though the studio remained mum on any plans. Now New Line has confirmed that the 'Dark City: Director's Cut' will debut on Blu-ray July 29, day-and-date with a new standard DVD re-issue. December Blu-ray Bow Set for 'Lost' Fourth Season[teaser]Attention, 'Lost' fans: the fourth season of the smash ABC series is hitting Blu-ray this December in an 'Expanded' edition with never-before-seen extras.[/teaser] Due for Blu-ray release on December 9 (day-and-date with the standard DVD), 'Lost: The Complete Fourth Season - Expanded' follows last year's highly-successful next-gen release of 'Lost: The Complete Third Season,' which quickly became one of the top TV-on-high-def sellers on the format. July Blu-ray Date Set for 'Get Smart' Spin-Off[teaser]Warner Premiere has set an early-July Blu-ray debut for the 'Get Smart' direct-to-video spin-off 'Bruce and Lloyd Out of Control.'[/teaser] Due in theaters June 20, 'Get Smart' stars Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway in a big-budget update of the famous Maxwell Smart spy series of the '60s. In an precedent-setting marketing move, Warner earlier this year announced they would be debuting a direct-to-video spin-off film, 'Get Smart's Bruce and Lloyd Out of Control,' on DVD July 1 as a tie-in with its big-screen cousin. Now the studio has announced a Blu-ray version for the same date, which will see 'Get Smart' stars Masi Oka of ('Heroes' fame) and Nate Torrance, in their own misadventure as two techies at the CONTROL organization who get mixed up in further spy complications. Warner Sets Specs, Box Art for 'Bucket List' Blu-ray[teaser]Due on Blu-ray this June, Warner has confirmed specs and box art for 'The Bucket List,' which will hit high-def with multiple exclusive features.[/teaser] As previously reported, Warner first announced a June 10 Blu-ray debut (day-and-date with the DVD) for the $90 million-grossing Jack Nicholson-Morgan Freeman smash, but the studio didn't detail the complete specs. Previously-confirmed extras (shared across both versions) include the featurette "Writing the Bucket List," and a John Mayer music video. Exclusive to the Blu-ray will be additional interviews with the cast and director Rob Reiner, a pop-up trivia track, and a making-of featurette on the music video. 'Fool's Gold' Blu-ray Specs, Box Art Revealed[teaser]Warner has dug up specs and box art for the June Blu-ray release of 'Fool's Gold,' though fans hoping for a bounty of extras may be in for a disappointment.[/teaser] As previously reported, the studio announced a June 17th Blu-ray arrival (day-and-date with the DVD) for the Matthew McConaughay-Kate Hudson romantic comedy, but specs were scarce. The studio has now issued the full announcement for 'Fool's Gold,' which will sport 1080p/VC-1 video and English, French and Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround and subtitle tracks only (no high-res audio has been announced). Disney Preview Offers First News on 'Nightmare Before Christmas' Blu-ray[teaser]Disney has attached a new video trailer to next month's Blu-ray release of 'National Treasure 2,' previewing a dozen of their biggest 2008 Blu-ray disc releases, including a first look at the still-unscheduled next-gen release of 'The Nightmare Before Christmas.'[/teaser] Dropping on our doorstep this week was a copy of Disney's 'National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets,' which features a pre-movie trailer previewing a host of previously-announced upcoming releases, including 'Tinker Bell' and 'Sleeping Beauty.' The excitement comes at the conclusion of the montage, however, with a sparkling clip for Tim Burton's beloved cult classic 'The Nightmare Before Christmas.' Though the spot offers no exact street date, the Blu-ray is touted as arriving this Fall, and timed to coincide with a new standard DVD two-disc re-issue. No additional specs are revealed in the spot, though it does promise fully remastered video and audio, plus all-new exclusive bonus features. We've contacted Disney, and there is currently no further official information available for what is sure to be one of the season's most eagerly-anticipated Blu-ray catalog releases. Sony BMG Sets Date, Specs for John Mayer Live Blu-ray[teaser]Sony BMG has announced a street date and specs for the John Mayer concert film 'Where the Light Is,' which will hit Blu-ray this July with a host of next-gen exclusives. [/teaser] As previously reported, Sony had revealed plans to bring a previously-untitled John Mayer concert (recorded live at Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre in December 2007) to Blu-ray sometime later this year, but stopped short of issuing any further details or even a street date. Now the distributor has issued the full media announcement for 'John Mayer: Where the Light Is,' which will hit Blu-ray on July 1 (day-and-date with the DVD) as one of Sony's most advanced next-gen releases yet. Spanning 22 tracks, 'Where the Light Is' features three sets: an acoustic performance, a rare set with the John Mayer Trio (John Mayer, Steve Jordan, and Pino Palladino), as well as a set featuring Mayer’s full-band. Captured with eight cameras and shot on Super35 film, the Blu-ray will feature 1080p/24fps video, plus audio options in PCM 2.0 Stereo (98kHz/24-bit) and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround (96kHz/24-bit). Exclusive to the BLu-ray is a picture-in-picture "experience" with musicians Steve Jordan and Pino Palladino (Bonus View enabled), as well as BD-Live content including a backstage performance of "Belief."
