Fox Fires Up 'Alien vs. Predator' Blu-ray Double-Header[teaser]In a studio first, Fox says it will bundle the hits 'Alien vs. Predator' and 'Alien vs. Predator: Requiem' as a Blu-ray two-pack this April. [/teaser] As we've previously reported, 'Alien vs. Predator: Requiem' is set to make its next-gen debut on April 15 (day-and-date with the standard DVD). It follows the original 'Alien vs. Predator,' which Fox released on Blu-ray in early 2006. In a bonus for fans who may have missed 'AvP' on Blu-ray the first time around, Fox has now confirmed that it will also offer a discounted Blu-ray two-pack featuring both AvP titles on April 15. Carrying a suggested list price of $69.98, the AvP bundle will offer a savings of at least $10 compared to buying each title separately. (Amazon is already taking pre-orders for the bundle at $48.95.) Note that although Fox recently revealed plans to release an upgraded version of 'Alien vs. Predator' (with all-new bonus features) on Blu-ray sometime in the second half of 2008, the studio has confirmed that the two-pack edition of 'AvP' will be identical to the current stand-alone release (as will be 'Requiem'). Box art for each individual title also remains the same. As always, you'll find complete specs for the 'Alien vs. Predator/Alien vs. Predator: Requiem' two-pack in our Blu-ray Release Schedule, where it's indexed under April 15.Posted Fri Mar 14, 2008 at 08:00 AM PDT by: -

(All discs are currently available for order at Amazon.com for between $14.49 and $19.95 each -- see the links at the bottom of the page.) The complete list of newly-reduced Fox titles include: '28 Days Later,' 'Behind Enemy Lines,' 'Broken Arrow,' 'Cast Away,' 'Chain Reaction,' 'The Devil Wears Prada,' 'Edward Scissorhands,' 'Flight of the Phoenix (2004),' 'The Fly (1986),' 'From Hell,' 'Entrapment,' 'Fantastic Four,' 'Kiss of the Dragon,' 'The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen,' 'Men of Honor,' 'The Omen (2006),' 'Planet of the Apes (2001),' 'Rising Sun,' 'The Sentinel (2006),' 'Speed,' 'The Transporter' and 'Transporter 2.' As always, we'll keep you posted of all Fox pricing changes as they are officially announced.Posted Thu Mar 13, 2008 at 10:00 AM PDT by: -

Full specs are now in, with Disney porting over all of the bonus features found on the previous two-disc DVD special edition of the film. Among the numerous extras are two audio commentaries (the first with the filmmakers, the second a cast track with the film's young stars), a seven-part "Creating Narnia" documentary ("Chronicles Of A Director," "The Children's Magical Journey," "Evolution Of An Epic," "From One Man's Mind," "Cinematic Storytellers," "Creating Creatures", "Anatomy of a Scene: The Melting River"), an additional three-part "Creatures, Lands & Legends" feature ("Legends In Time,""Creatures Of The World," the "Explore Narnia" Interactive 3-D Map), and a "Bloopers Of Narnia" gag reel. However, exclusive to the release will be the new "Battle For Narnia" interactive game, which will make full use of the format's BD-Java capabilities. Phoenix Goes Blu, Announces First Title 'Naked Beneath the Water'[teaser]Phoenix Entertainment has announced that it is switching allegiance to Blu-ray with this month's release of 'Naked Beneath the Water,' and canceling its entire line-up of previously-scheduled HD DVD titles.[/teaser] The indie distributor first announced HD DVD support late last year, scheduling an early 2008 release for its first two titles ('The Lawless' and 'Naked Beneath the Water'). The pair never arrived in stores, however, and when asked for comment, a company rep has confirmed to us that Phoenix has ceased support for the format and has canceled all of its previously-planned releases. Phoenix has not exited the next-gen business, however, and has chosen the horror-thriller 'Naked Beneath the Water' as its first Blu-ray offering. Due for release on March 25, 'Naked' will be followed by two additional (but still unnamed) Blu-ray releases this Spring. Specs for 'Naked Beneath the Water' will mirror the now-canceled HD DVD version, with 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video and Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround audio. Extras include audio commentary with writer-director-star Sean Cain, the "Big Explosion" documentary, a blooper reel and an "alternate ending" easter egg. Exclusive to the Blu-ray will be a collection of additional deleted & extended scenes. Phoenix has set a suggested retail price of $19.99 for the Blu-ray.
