'Crooked Arrows' Blu-ray Announced[teaser]The inspirational sports drama has been set for a Blu-ray release at the end of the month. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, 20th Century Fox will be bringing 'Crooked Arrows' to Blu-ray on October 23. You’ll stand up and cheer for this feel-good sports thriller starring Brandon Routh ('Superman Returns'). The ancient sport of lacrosse has been part of their tribal heritage for centuries, but the Native American players on the Crooked Arrows high school team are long-time losers. When former star player Joe Logan (Routh) agrees to coach the rag-tag group to seal the deal on a lucrative casino project, he sets out to turn the chumps into champs and, in the process, learns the value of loyalty himself. If the Arrows can learn to shoot straight and challenge their prepschool rivals, these fast-breaking warriors may just pull off the ultimate upset and win it all! 'Heavyweights' Dated for Blu-ray[teaser]The 1995 family comedy starring Ben Stiller is planned for Blu-ray this December. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Disney/Buena Vista is working on 'Heavyweights' for a Blu-ray release on December 11. 'Heavyweights' tells the hilarious story of a group of underdog kids who discover their beloved summer camp has been sold to a crazy fitness fanatic (Stiller) who's determined to make their lives miserable. The new owner plans to keep the boys huffing and puffing, but these hungry kids have a plan of their own. They unite to turn the tables, take back their woodsy hideaway and challenge the rival camp to the most outrageous summer games of all. 'Death Ship' Dated for Blu-ray[teaser]The 1980 thriller sets sail for Blu-ray this November. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Scorpion Releasing will be releasing 'Death Ship' on Blu-ray on November 6. The film starring George Kennedy and Richard Crenna focuses on survivors of a tragic shipping collision who are rescued by a mysterious black ship that appears out of the fog. Little do they realise that the ship is actually a Nazi torture ship which has sailed the seas for years, luring unsuspecting sailors aboard and killing them off one by one. Specs and supplements haven't been revealed yet, but the suggested list price for the Blu-ray is $26.95. Warner Bros Will Distribute Over 600 Paramount titles DVDs and Blu-ray[teaser]No titles are named, but Warner says there are plenty on the way that are completely new to Blu-ray. [/teaser] A new deal has come down the pipeline – Warner Bros Home Entertainment will be distributing more than 600 of Paramount's catalog titles on Blu-ray and DVD. That’s a solid chunk of movies and from the sounds of things, quite a few of them will be new to Blu-ray. "These Paramount catalog titles are the perfect complement to the Warner Bros. library; they will allow us to offer consumers new multi-feature film packages and debut many titles on Blu-ray for the first time," says Warner Home Video president Ron Sanders. "The deal also adds a new energy to our Warner Archive Collection initiative, broadening the selection of rare titles available to consumers on demand." The deal also gives access to Paramount films on the Warner streaming service Flixter, those these aren't exclusives like the physical media is.
