'Amityville 3D' Gets Blu-ray 3D Release![teaser]The disc in the upcoming trilogy boxed set will be Blu-ray 3D compatible! [/teaser] As previously reported, Scream Factory has revealed that they are planning to bring 'The Amityville Horror Trilogy' to Blu-ray sometime before Halloween. This set will include 'The Amityville Horror,' 'Amityville II: The Possession,' and 'Amityville 3-D.' Shout Factory has now confirmed that 'Amityville 3-D' will be getting a Blu-ray 3D upgrade: "We can now officially confirm that our upcoming Amityville Horror Trilogy blu-ray box set will include the film AMITYVILLE 3-D (1983) in Blu-ray 3-D!! (2-D version also included too.) To our knowledge, this marks the first time an 80′s 3-D film has been presented in a Blu-ray 3-D format. Needless to say, we are very excited about this and hope you will be too. The release is planned for October. More specific details (artwork, extras) will be announced in the Summer." 'Hands of the Ripper' Blu-ray Announced[teaser]Peter Sasdy's 1971 cult horror is getting an uncut U.S. Blu-ray release in July. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Synapse Films will release 'Hands of the Ripper' on Blu-ray on July 9. The infant daughter of Jack the Ripper is witness to the brutal murder of her mother by her father. Fifteen years later she is a troubled young woman who is seemingly possessed by the spirit of her father. While in a trance she continues his murderous killing spree but has no recollection of the events afterwards. A sympathetic psychiatrist takes her in and is convinced he can cure her condition. Soon, however, he regrets his decision. 'To the Wonder' Dated for Blu-ray[teaser]The latest film from acclaimed director Terrence Malick is bound for Blu-ray in August. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Magnolia will be releasing 'To the Wonder' on Blu-ray on August 6. The anticipated new feature from renowned filmmaker Terrence Malick ('Badlands,' 'The Tree of Life'), 'To the Wonder' boldly and lyrically explores the complexities of love in all its forms. Parisian single mother Marina (Olga Kurylenko) and Midwestern tourist Neil (Ben Affleck) fall madly in love in France and relocate to Oklahoma with Marina's young daughter to start a life together. As their relationship wanes and her visa nears expiration, Marina makes the acquaintance of a priest and fellow exile (Javier Bardem) who is struggling with his faith, while Neil renews a relationship with his childhood sweetheart, Jane (Rachel McAdams). 'An Affair of the Heart' Blu-ray Announced[teaser]The acclaimed Rick Springfield documentary will rock Blu-ray in July. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Breaking Glass Pictures is working on 'An Affair of the Heart' for a Blu-ray release on July 16. The Grammy award winner was quoted as saying, "It was a real laugh/cry kind of thing. As a person, I am kind of peripheral. It is about their connection, what they view and how they interpreted who I was, and the right times that music that they liked came along to help them to get through difficult stuff." Ray Harryhausen Dead at 92[teaser]The stop-motion FX legend has passed away. [/teaser] Ray Harryhausen has reportedly died on Tuesday morning in London at the age of 92. Harryhausen's incredible work can be seen in numerous films including 'Jason and the Argonauts,' the original 'Clash of the Titans,' and all four films in the 'Ray Harryhausen Collection' to name but a few -- all currently available on Blu-ray. 'Body Double' Blu-ray Announced[teaser]Brian De Palma's 1984 erotic crime thriller will have a limited Blu-ray release this summer. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Twilight Time is working on 'Body Double' for Blu-ray on August 13. In 'Body Double,' director Brian DePalma pays homage to the Alfred Hitchcock movies 'Vertigo' and 'Rear Window,' adding a few grotesque touches all his own. Craig Wasson plays Jake, a struggling actor who keeps losing jobs because of his claustrophobia. To make matters worse, his girlfriend has walked out on him, so he has no place to sleep. His pal offers him the use of his apartment for the evening. The apartment happens to be equipped with a huge picture window and telescope, enabling him to spy on his beautiful neighbor Gloria (Deborah Shelton) while she undresses. He also bears witness to her brutal murder. And then he meets a porn star (Melanie Griffith), who has just taken a job posing as the late Gloria.
