'Boardwalk Empire: The Complete Third Season' Dated and Detailed for Blu-ray[teaser]The third season of the hit HBO series starring Steve Buscemi is planned for Blu-ray in August. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, HBO will bring 'Boardwalk Empire: The Complete Third Season' to Blu-ray on August 20. Picking up sixteen months after the Season Two finale, Season Three begins on New Year's Eve, 1922, with 1923 mere hours away. The Roaring '20s are about to start. Though the economy is booming, alcohol has become scarce, competition is fierce, and gangster violence is heating up. Amidst this backdrop, Nucky, whose marriage to Margaret (Kelly Macdonald) has become a sham after she signed away his highway windfall to the church, faces new competition in the person of Gyp Rosetti (new cast member Bobby Cannavale), who builds a new strategic bulkhead between New York and Atlantic City in an effort to siphon off Nucky's alcohol business. The conflict brings out the best and worst in Nucky, who proves his brutal mettle in a series of violent encounters. New and familiar faces also undergo compelling metamorphoses as the latest 12-episode season unfolds. 'Daily Lives of High School Boys' Blu-ray Announced[teaser]Twelve episodes of the anime series are headed to Blu-ray in August. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, NIS America has revealed 'Daily Lives of High School Boys' is bound for Blu-ray on August 6. Join Tadakuni (voiced by Miyu Irino), Hidenori (Tomokazu Sugita), and Yoshitake (Kenichi Suzumura) as they undergo the trials and tribulations of life in high school. Each episode presents the boys and their classmates in unique situations that you may or may not have faced in high school yourself. You'll laugh! You'll cry! But hopefully laugh more. 'Scanners II / Scanners III' Announced for Blu-ray[teaser]Two sequels to David Cronenberg's 1981 sci-fi thriller will be getting a double feature Blu-ray release later in the year. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Scream Factory will be releasing 'Scanners II / Scanners III' on Blu-ray in 2013. 'Scanners II' - When a corrupt police commander (Yvan Ponton) decides to use the scanners to help take over the city, he convinces evil scientist Dr Morse (Tom Butler) to help him. Morse has plans to use a new mind-controlling drug on the telepaths, but has not reckoned with a rogue scanner who is determined to stop them. 'Scanners III' - Young Helena Monet (Liliana Komorowska) has exceptional telepathic abilities, but when she tries an experimental drug developed by her father she turns into a deranged killer, using her abilities to cut a murderous swathe to the top of her father's pharmaceutical company. On her quest to dominate the world, Helena takes over a television station, and the only man who can stop her is her scanner brother Alex, recently returned from honing his skills in a Thai monastery. 'Love Me Tender' Blu-ray Dated and Detailed[teaser]Elvis Presley's big screen debut is hitting Blu-ray in July. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, 20th Century Fox is preparing 'Love Me Tender' for Blu-ray on July 30. Moviegoers were introduced to Elvis Presley in this film set during the dying hours of the Civil War. Elvis sings four songs, including the title song. The year is 1865, and the three Confederate Reno brothers don't know the war has ended. They manage to steal a Union Army payroll, and head for home with the money. While Vance (Richard Egan) can think only of the love of his life, Cathy (Debra Paget), it turns out that the brothers have been reported dead, and Cathy has married their youngest brother Clint (Elvis Presley). Vance accepts this until he learns that Cathy still loves him. To complicate things, the U.S. Army knows of the brothers' theft and is hunting them down.
