'Grease' is the Word on Blu-ray this May[teaser]The mega-hit 'Grease' is ready to hit the high-def sock hop, with Paramount Home Entertainment announcing an early-May Blu-ray release for the musical classic.[/teaser] The film that made John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John stars, 'Grease' still ranks as the most financially successful musical in Hollywood history, earning over $100 million domestically (in 1978 dollars, no less). Paramount has alerted retailers to a May 5 Blu-ray release for the film. (The studio previously issued a standard DVD special edition in 2004.) There are no tech or supplement specs available as of yet, but a package comparable to the DVD is expected. As always, we'll keep you posted. 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' to Get Blu Boxed this August[teaser]The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are coming to "Green-ray," with Warner bundling all four of their cinematic adventures in a high-def box set due this August.[/teaser] In a hard-shell offer Warner is hoping TMNT fans won't be able to refuse, the studio has set an August arrival for the 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Collector's Edition Box Set,' timed to coincide with the series' 25th anniversary. The four-disc bundle will contain all three live-action New Line entries in the series, including 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,' 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze' and 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Turtles in Time.' The collection will also throw inthe latest all-CGI adventure 'TMNT' (which the studio previously-released on Blu-ray in 2007). There are no tech or supplement specs confirmed as of yet, but Warner is expected to issue the full press details over the coming weeks. 'Without a Paddle' Headed to Blu-ray this May[teaser]Paramount Home Entertainment is bringing the comedy 'Without a Paddle' to Blu-ray in mid-May.[/teaser] The 2002 comedy, which starred Seth Green and Matthew Liliard, proved to be a fairly sizable hit upon first release, eventually snagging over $70 million in domestic box office receipts. Eventually spawning a direct-to-video sequel of its own ('Without a Paddle: Nature's Calling,' which Paramount released on high-def earlier this year), the original film will make its belated Blu-ray debut on May 12. Warner Says 'Yes Man' on Blu-ray[teaser]Warner has announced details for 'Yes Man,' which will come to Blu-ray in early-April with extensive bonus features and BD-Live.[/teaser] The latest hit from Jim Carrey, 'Yes Man' didn't ignite the box office quite as strongly as past Carrey comedies, but it still managed to earn over $100 million domestically. Warner will release the Blu-ray on April 7, day-and-date with the standard DVD. Tech specs feature a BD-25 single-layer disc with 1080p/VC-1 video (2.35:1) and English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround audio. Among the extras are multiple featurettes ("Behind the Story," "Performed by Jim Carrey and Others," "Say Yes to Red Bull! As Only Carrey Can," "Yes Man: Party Central with Norman Stokes"), a "Yes Loans! Infomercial," additional footage, a gag reel, and "Munchausen by Proxy" reel of five music videos. Fox to Unleash 'Day the Earth Stood Still' on Blu-ray[teaser]Fox Home Entertainment has announced its latest Blu-ray/DVD combo release, setting a late-March date for 'The Day the Earth Stood Still.'[/teaser] The big-budget remake of the sci-fi classic performed only moderately at the holiday box office, earning $90 million domestically. Due for release as a three-disc Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy combo, Fox will debut 'The Day the Earth Stood Still' on Blu-ray March 31 (day-and-date with the standard DVD). Tech specs will see the Blu-ray platter boasting 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video and DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround. Among the extensive extras is audio commentary with director David Scarpa, four featurettes ("Re-Imagining 'The Day,'" "Unleashing Gort," "Watching The Skies: In Search Of Extraterrestrial Life," "The Day The Earth Was 'Green'"), deleted scenes, and three still galleries. Fox Goes 3-Disc with 'Marley & Me' Blu-ray[teaser]Fox Home Entertainment has announced the first details for 'Marley & Me,' which will be the studio's first Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy three-disc combo when it hits Blu-ray in late March.[/teaser] The biggest hit of the Christmas season, the Jennifer Aniston-Owen Wilson starrer grossed nearly $150 million domestically. Fox has confirmed a March 31 retail date for the Blu-ray, which will arrive day-and-date with the standard DVD. Details see 'Marley & Me' receiving a three-treatment, becoming the first Fox title to include both Blu-ray and standard DVD versions, plus a Digital Copy.
