B.B. King 'Montreux' Concert Coming to Blu-ray[teaser]Eagle Rock has announced the latest Blu-ray in its Montreux music series, setting an early-June date for a live concert from B.B. King.[/teaser] Featuring two hours of the legendary bluesman's best-known classics and covers, 'B.B. King: Live At Montreux 1993' will hit Blu-ray on June 2. Warner Reveals Final 'Friday the 13th' Blu-ray Specs, Box Art[teaser]The full bloody details are in for 'Friday the 13th,' which will slice up Blu-ray this June with an extended cut of the film and Digital Copy.[/teaser] As previously reported, Warner Home Video had set a June 16 date for the Michael Bay-produced horror redux, and revealed early specs and supplement details. The full splatter and box art has now been confirmed, with Jason's latest exploits receiving the BD-50 dual-layer treatment with 1080p/VC-1 video (2.39:1) and English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround track. The disc will contain both the R-rated and never-before-seen "Killer Cut" versions of the film available via seamless branching. Extras include the "Explore the Rebirth of Jason Voorhees" featurette and additional "slashed" scenes. Exclusive to the Blu-ray is the "Terror Trivia" factoid track, the "Hacking Back/Slashing Forward" and "The 7 Best Kills" featurettes, and BD-Live connectivity. Also included on a second disc is a Digital Copy of both the extended and rated versions of the film, compatible with PCs and iTunes. Suggested retail price for the Blu-ray has been set at $35.98. MGM Outlines 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly' Blu-ray Specs[teaser]MGM/Fox have unveiled final specs for 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly,' which arrives on Blu-ray this May with a six-shooter's worth of retrospective features.[/teaser] As previously reported, the studio announced a May 12 Blu-ray debut for the Sergio Leone-Clint Eastwood classic, but was short on any tech or supplement specs. Final details are now in, with the film receiving a BD-50 dual-layer presentation with 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video and a DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround track. Extras include a pair of audio commentaries (with film historian Richard Schickel, and Christopher Frayling), multiple featurettes ("Leone's West," "The Leone Style," "The Man Who Lost the Civil War," "Reconstructing 'The Good, The Bad and the Ugly'" and the two-part "IL Maestro: Ennio Morricone and 'The Good, The Bad and the Ugly'"), deleted scenes, theatrical trailers, and four "hidden" easter eggs. 'Battlestar Galactica' Announced for Blu-ray[teaser]The wait is over: Universal Studios has officially announced a July Blu-ray release for the complete 'Battlestar Galactica.'[/teaser] Following months of teasing and web rumors, which strongly hinted at a summer high-def release for the much-beloved cult sci-fi series, Universal earlier this week alerted retailers to a pending announcement. Though dates remained unspecified, pre-order listings soon followed on many top retail sites, including Amazon.com. Confirming the widely expected, Universal has now issued an official press release announcing a July 28 landing for 'Battlestar Galactica: Season 4.5' and 'Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Series.' Both titles will arrive day-and-date on Blu-ray and DVD. Both the three-disc 'Season 4.5' and the mammoth twenty-disc(!) 'The Complete Series' will see all episodes presented on BD-50 dual-layer discs, in 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video (1.78:1) with DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround tracks. 'Season 4.5' is also confirmed to included extended versions of three, as-yet-unspecified episodes. Extras on 'Season 4.5' include audio commentaries (episodes not identified) by Ronald D. Moore, David Eick and Edward James Olmos, the five-part documentary "A Look Back," a trio of featurettes ("Evolution of a Cue," "...And They Have a Plan," "The Journey Ends: The Arrival"), deleted scenes and Eick's full video blogs that originally appeared on the internet. Exclusive to the Blu-ray are three U-Control features: "The Oracle" interactive guide to ships and characters, "Battlestar Actual" glossary of terms, and the "What the Freak Happened to You?" exploration of the history and connections of your favorite characters through video clips and relevant facts. Also on the Blu-ray is the "Battlestar Galactica Ultimate Battle" interactive game, My Scenes, and a bonus featurette "The Musicians Behind Daybreak." Universal has not revealed the bonus features for 'The Complete Series' set, but extras are expected to include at least those found on 'Season 4.5,' plus much more. We'll keep you posted. 'Last Starfighter' Bound for Blu-ray[teaser]One of the '80s most beloved cult classics is headed to Blu-ray, with Universal setting an early-August touchdown for 'The Last Starfighter.'[/teaser] Released on HD DVD in early 2007, the sci-fi/videogame adventure will make its belated Blu-ray debut on August 4.
