Image Readies 'Alien Trepass' for Blu-ray Invasion[teaser]Image Entertainment has announced an August Blu-ray date for the indie sci-fi comedy 'Alien Trespass.'[/teaser] Starring 'Will & Grace's Eric McCormick and Jenni Baird as a couple who must fight off an otherworldly invasion, 'Alien Trespass' failed to make much of an impression at the box office, but looks poised to be an instant cult hit on video. Image will beam down the Blu-ray on August 11, day-and-date with the standard DVD. Tech specs will see 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video (1.85:1) and a DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround track. 'Billy Jack' Coming to Blu-ray[teaser]'70s icon 'Billy Jack' is headed to Blu-ray, with Image Entertainment setting a late-August date for the action classic.[/teaser] Starring Tom Laughlin, 'Billy Jack' is heralded as the precursor to the wave of "vigilante cinema" that ruled the '70s and 80s, including 'Dirty Harry,' 'Death Wish,' and the Rambo movies. The first of four Billy Jack movies, Image will release the first (and what is still considered the best) of the series on August 25. Newly remastered, tech details will see 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video (1.85:1) and a DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround track. Amazon Pre-Orders Up for 'Lie to Me,' 'Always Sunny in Philadelphia'[teaser]There are no official dates yet, but Amazon.com has just listed pre-orders for the hit TV series 'Lie to Me' and 'Always Sunny in Philadelphia' for Blu-ray.[/teaser] Though Fox has yet to announce either title, Blu-ray listings have just appeared for 'Lie to Me: Season One,' and 'Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Season Four.' While not a guarantee of a future Blu-ray release (and therefore should be taken with a grain of salt), Amazon pre-order listings are always a strong indicator that a studio is close to officially announcing a title. 'Waltz with Bashir' Coming to Blu-ray[teaser]Sony Pictures is bringing the 2008 Best Foreign Language Film nominee 'Waltz with Bashir' to Blu-ray in late-June.[/teaser] The highly-acclaimed, animated biography by filmmaker Ari Folman, 'Waltz with Bashir' documents his journey as he interviews fellow veterans of the 1982 invasion of Lebanon. Sony will release the Blu-ray on June 23, day-and-date with the standard DVD. Tech specs feature a BD-50 dual-layer presentation with 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video (1.85:1) and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround tracks in Hebrew and English. Among the extras is audio commentary with Folman, a "Making-of" featurette, "Behind the Scenes" animatics, and a Q&A with Folman. Like all Sony Blu-ray titles, the disc also comes with BD-Live connectivity. Suggested list price for the Blu-ray has been set at $39.95. Warner Officially Announces Ninja Turtles Blu-ray box[teaser]The hard-shelled superheroes are finally confirmed for Blu-ray, with Warner setting an early-August arrival for the anthology 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Film Collection.'[/teaser] As reported back in February, Warner/New Line had alerted retailers to an August release for a box set of the Ninja Turtles' complete cinematic canon, but stopped short of issuing an official press announcement or any specific details. Confirmed to arrive August 4, the four-disc bundle will contain all three live-action New Line entries in the series, including 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,' 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze' and 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Turtles in Time.' The collection will also throw in the latest all-CGI adventure 'TMNT' (which the studio previously-released on Blu-ray in 2007). Tech specs will see each film receive a BD-25 single-layer presentation, with 1080p video. Audio specs have yet to be announced. Warner has not outlined the complete bonus features on each disc, however, the box itself will come with various Ninja Turtle collectibles, including a comic book, autographed sketch by creator Peter Laird, a "Radical" beanie hat and eight TMNT character cards. Anchor Bay Bumps 'Children of the Corn' Blu-ray[teaser]Fans of He Who Walks Behind the Rows are going to have to wait a little longer for their high-def horror: Anchor Bay has bumped the upcoming Blu-ray release of 'Children of the Corn.' [/teaser] Originally announced for a July 28 release on Blu-ray, Anchor Bay has now rescheduled the 1985 cult horror fave (and endless sequel-churning machine) to August 25. There are no changes to the disc's tech or supplement specs, which is set to include remastered 1080 video and Dolby TrueHD audio, new featurettes, a trivia track and more. 'The Unborn' to Possess Blu-ray[teaser]Hide the children and pets: 'The Unborn' is headed to Blu-ray in an unrated version with footage "too shocking for theaters."[/teaser] Starring Gary Oldman and Meagan Good, this tale of a demented, revenge-seeking spook scared up over $25 million at the domestic box office. Sony to Plunge 'The Deep' on Blu-ray[teaser]Glub, glub: the dark undersea secrets of 'The Deep' will be revealed on Blu-ray this July, with Sony set to release a first-ever high-def version of the Peter Benchley thriller. [/teaser] Billed as the big-ticket follow-up to Benchley's 'Jaws,' 1977's 'The Deep' failed to scale the same blockbuster heights, but has amassed a cult audience on video over the subsequent decades. Sony has announced a Blu-ray version for release on July 7 (the studio has previously issued various DVD and LaserDisc incarnations over the years). Though we have yet to get final specs, early details indicate the theatrical cut of the film will be presented in 1080p video and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround audio.
