Report: Warner Prepping 'Gremlins' Duo for Blu-ray[teaser]'Gremlin' fans may have a lot to look forward to on Blu-ray very soon according to the film's director, who has revealed that work is currently underway to bring the '80s favorites to high-def in newly-remastered versions.[/teaser] As first reported by BloodyDisgusting.com, 'Gremlins' and 'Gremlins 2: The New Batch' helmer Joe Dante sat down with the site to discuss his involvement with a possible upcoming sequel/remake to the monster classics. He revealed that he is overseeing new digital remasters of both flicks for Warner Home Video and, despite some initial delays, they are currently being readied for eventual release on Blu-ray. "I've seen the transfer," Dante said. "We did them over. In fact, I think 'Gremlins' was supposed to come out this summer because it's the 25th anniversary, but they [Warner] didn't make the date because they said, 'We can do better than this, we can make it look better,’ and its worth making it look better, so they're still working on it." Dante also discussed potential supplemental features, saying only that it is likely materials from the previous DVD special editions would be repurposed for the Blu-ray, as well as the potential inclusion of a popular YouTube spoof that parodies the original film. At press time Warner had not confirmed nor denied plans for any 'Gremlins' releases on Blu-ray, but as always we'll keep you updated as any official news comes in. In the meantime, we've added listings for 'Gremlins' and 'Gremlins 2: The New Batch' to the "Release Dates Pending" section of our Blu-ray Release Schedule.Posted Wed Apr 29, 2009 at 11:55 AM PDT by: -
