Netflix and EPIX Make a Deal – New Movies Streaming in September[teaser]The new agreement will give streaming subscribers access to films like 'Iron Man 2' among others. [/teaser] Netflix knows where its bread is buttered. Sure, you can get DVDs and Blu-rays in the mail from Netflix, but the streaming service is currently the most convenient and cheapest way to rent movies. It's quickly become the thing the company is best known for. That's probably why Netflix felt comfortable making a deal that would pay EPIX $1 billion over the course of the next five years in exchange for streaming rights. That's $200 million a year – not exactly chump change. Under the terms of the deal, Netflix will get the rights to stream movies from Paramount, Lionsgate and MGM just 90 days after they launch on premium TV channels like HBO and, well, EPIX. 'Rush Hour' Dated & Detailed for Blu-ray[teaser]The first adventure of Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker is planned for Blu-ray in December. [/teaser] Warner Brothers/New Line Cinema has revealed Brett Ratner's 'Rush Hour' will be heading to Blu-ray on December 7. The third film in the trilogy has already been released on Blu-ray, but there's no word on when the second movie will hit the format. The Blu-ray will feature 1080p video, a DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 soundtrack, and supplements include: Commentary by director Brett Ratner, Additional scenes, Featurette gallery: A Piece of the Action: Behind the Scenes of Rush Hour, Brett Ratner's short film: What Ever Happened to Mason Reese?, Music videos, Isolated score with commentary by composer Lalo Schifrin, and a theatrical trailer. Over 100 Blu-ray players will be tested during the process, including Blu-ray players from different reigons. THX-BluFocus Creative Certification is probably the most important when it comes to 3D presentations. This is the process where THX testers make sure that the 3D is working right. 'S&Man' and 'I Am Love' Announced For Blu-ray[teaser]Two independent films will be released on Blu-ray this October. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Magnolia is preparing 'S&Man' for Blu-ray on October 12. The controversial film delves into the world of faux snuff films and will include audio commentaries, deleted scenes, a complete "S&Man" film, and excerpts from underground films for the suggested list price of $24.95. On the same date, Magnolia will also release the drama 'I Am Love' starring Tilda Swinton. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Sony Pictures has revealed 'Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky' is headed for high-definition on September 28. The film premiered at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival and stars Anna Mouglalis and Mads Mikkelsen (the badass from the remake of 'Clash of the Titans'). The Blu-ray will feature 1080p video, a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack, and the only supplement appears to be The Making of Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky. 'The Girl Who Played with Fire' Announced for Blu-ray[teaser]The sequel to the acclaimed award-winning Swedish crime thriller is coming to Blu-ray in October. [/teaser] Music Box Films is preparing 'The Girl Who Played with Fire,' starring Noomi Rapace and Michael Nyqvist, for a Blu-ray release on October 26. The film is the follow-up to 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' directed by Niels Arden Oplev released on Blu-ray on July 6. The third film in the series based on the "Millennium Trilogy" novels by the late Swedish author and journalist Stieg Larsson - 'The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest,' is apparently planned for a release later this year.
