'Neil Cowley Trio: Live At Montreux' Announced for Blu-ray[teaser]The jazz musicians' summer 2012 performance will make its way to Blu-ray in April. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Eagle Rock says 'Neil Cowley Trio: Live At Montreux' is coming to high-definition on April 20. Making their debut appearance at the Montreux Jazz Festival on July 11, The Neil Cowley Trio are virtuoso musicians. Cowley is a consummate live performer with a distinctively English wit and the ability to create a marvelous rapport with his audience, as ably demonstrated on Live At Montreux 2012. The show focuses primarily on their latest album The Face Of Mount Molehill (recorded & later toured with a string ensemble), with a scattering of tracks from their previous releases. Neil Cowley is a much in demand pianist who cut his teeth on albums by the likes of Brand New Heavies and Zero 7, and more recently played piano on both of Adele's global bestselling albums 19 and 2, making him quite literally, the most listened to pianist on the planet. Defined by powerful riffs countered by poignant, delicate passages and witty, whimsical romps, Cowley's jazz-meets-rock ethic has earned his trio worldwide acclaim, and plaudits from across the musical spectrum. 'The Ultimate Gangsters Collection Contemporary' and 'The Ultimate Gangsters Collection Classic' Announced for Blu-ray[teaser]Two boxed sets of fantastic gangster films will be packing heat on Blu-ray this May! [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Warner Brothers has slated 'The Ultimate Gangsters Collection Contemporary' and 'The Ultimate Gangsters Collection Classic' for Blu-ray on May 21. The Contemporary Collection is a 5-disc set with five crime films that include Martin Scorsese’s 'GoodFellas,' 'The Departed' and 'Mean Streets;' 'Heat,' starring Al Pacino, Robert De Niro and Val Kilmer; and Paramount’s 'The Untouchables' with Kevin Costner, De Niro and Sean Connery. The four films in the Classic Collection have been remastered for their Blu-ray debuts. They include 'The Public Enemy' and 'White Heat' with the legendary performances of James Cagney; 'Little Caesar' with Edward G. Robinson as hoodlum Rico Bandello; and 'The Petrified Forest' starring Humphrey Bogart, Bette Davis and Leslie Howard. The collection includes a feature-length documentary Public Enemies: The Golden Age of the Gangster Drama which explores the development of the crime genre and the rise of Warner stars like Cagney, Bogart and Robinson. Also discussed are directors such as Walsh, Wellman and Curtiz; the films themselves; their influence on filmmakers worldwide; and Warner’s impact in establishing the genre.
