'The Hidden Fortress' Blu-ray Dated and Detailed[teaser]The samurai classic from the legendary Akira Kurosawa is planned for Blu-ray in March. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, the Criterion Collection will present 'The Hidden Fortress' on Blu-ray on March 18. A grand-scale adventure as only Akira Kurosawa could make one, 'The Hidden Fortress' stars the inimitable Toshiro Mifune as a general charged with guarding his defeated clan's princess (a fierce Misa Uehara) as the two smuggle royal treasure across hostile territory. Accompanying them are a pair of bumbling, conniving peasants who may or may not be their friends. This rip-roaring ride is among the director's most beloved films and was a primary influence on George Lucas's Star Wars. 'The Hidden Fortress' delivers Kurosawa's trademark deft blend of wry humor, breathtaking action, and compassionate humanity. 'Crossing Lines: Season One' Blu-ray Dated and Detailed[teaser]The first season of the NBC series is planned for Blu-ray next month. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Lionsgate will be releasing 'Crossing Lines: Season One' to Blu-ray on January 21. Premiering to over 4.4 million viewers, the NBC crime-drama swept audiences away with its intense and exciting stories of international criminals and the elite team that tracks them. Starring William Fichtner (TV's "Prison Break") and Donald Sutherland (The Hunger Gamesfranchise), the innovative show was created by executive producer and writer Edward Allen Bernero (TV's "Criminal Minds"). 'Charlie Countryman' Dated for Blu-ray[teaser]Fredrik Bond's directorial debut starring Shia LaBeouf and Evan Rachel Wood arrives on Blu-ray in January. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Millennium Entertainment is set to bring 'Charlie Countryman' to Blu-ray on January 21. When his late mother appears in a vision and tells him to go to Bucharest, Charlie Countryman immediately boards a plane across the Atlantic. A chance encounter with an ailing passenger leads Charlie to Gabi, a Romanian beauty, changing the course of his entire trip. As he falls head-over-heels in love with Gabi, he realizes that her dark past is riddled with dangerous baggage: namely her gangster ex-husband who has no intention of letting Gabi go. Determined to protect her, Charlie enters into a hallucinatory underworld filled with violence and, strangely enough, love. Boston Herald’s James Verniere raved that 'Charlie Countryman' is “enjoyably offbeat.” Matt Donato from We Got This Covered called Evan Rachel Wood’s performance “whimsical and intoxicating.” In his Huffington Post review, Marshall Fine hailed the film as “an intriguing directorial debut” for Fredrik Bond.
