Excellent! Party On Dudes - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray & Blu-ray Release Guide - October 9, 2022 - October 15, 2022Yeah, we really didn't need to eat any way, did we? October has shaped up to be as big as September was for disc releases. I still need to grab a few from September come to think of it. Welcome to Volume 3 Episode 21 of our weekly release guide. A look at the highlights of what's coming to disc this week, as well as a look at announcements from last week. 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases- There is just one new release in the 4K category this week and it's from Warner Bros, and it's direct-to-video at that, Mortal Kombat Legends: Snow Blind, available as a standard edition and as a Best Buy Exclusive SteelBook. I believe this release closes out the current story arc for the time being. Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure finally gets a U.S. release, via Shout Factory. Kino Lorber has a pair of releases to ponder, drama romance Indecent Proposal with Robert Redford, Demi Moore and Woody Harrelson, and The Score, an action crime drama starring Robert De Niro, Edward Norton, Marlon Brando and Angela Bassett. From LionsGate and presenting the first time on domestic 4K (and blu-ray) comes a Best Buy Exclusive SteelBook for The Limey. Criterion Collection this week is bringing us David Lynch's thriller Lost Highway. Universal has a huge slate this week. For starters, To Kill a Mockingbird (Gregory Peck) gets a standard release and (finally!!) a Limited Edition Giftset for just a few dollars more. Not as elaborate as some of the UK giftsets, but it's still exciting to see. I kind of saved Universal for last because there's still a lot more. Universal Classic Monsters Icons of Horror Collection Vol. 2 will be available Tuesday. And there's still more, Dracula, Frankenstein, The Invisible Man and The Wolf Man all get standard edition releases. Worthy of mention, but not a lot of screen space, Paramount releases The Godfather movies this week as single movie editions as well as SteelBooks. >The Godfather - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray >The Godfather - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray [SteelBook] >The Godfather Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray >The Godfather Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray [SteelBook] >The Godfather: Part II - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray >The Godfather: Part II - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray [SteelBook] Blu-ray releases- Even if your primary focus is 4K, this week could be a wallet-buster in the blu-ray category. There are a lot of titles to choose from. Getting to the blu-ray counterparts of the above 4K titles first, new release Mortal Kombat Legends: Snow Blind comes via Warner Bros, and the catalog title Lost Highway from Criterion Collection. From Warner Archive Collection, Mark of the Vampire. Criterion offers one more title this week as well, Arsenic and Old Lace with Cary Grant. From Paramount, the mega set Paranormal Activity: The Ultimate Chills Collection. Also from Paramount, the animated action comedy Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank. TV on disc, Blood & Treasure: Season Two from Paramount and Sweet Tooth: The Complete First Season from Warner Bros. I try to go out of my way to buy streaming service TV on disc and I will be getting Sweet Tooth. Still waiting for blu-ray/4Ks of Cobra Kai and Stranger Things 4. Anime highlights include Free! Road to the World The Dream Movie, Girls und Panzer der Film, Ocean Waves, Ranking of Kings Season 1 Part 1, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Season Two Part 02, which comes as a standard edition and a limited edition, The Vampire Dies in No Time Season 1 and When Marnie Was There, which comes as a standard edition and a SteelBook edition. From Universal, the 2022 drama/horror Beast comes out on short notice. Not making this a 4K release is a huge missed opportunity. You probably thought we had no LionsGate action thrillers or Bruce Willis movies this week, right? Wrong. The action thriller Wire Room with Bruce Willis is available this week. Probably still 120 or so movies to go since Willis has officially retired. Honorable Mention: Kino Lorber continues to bust em out, Film Noir: The Dark Side of Cinema IX is available this week. Notable announcements from last week: Shout! Factory has made the 4K release of WarGames official for December 20th, and also made the two Laika studios 4K releases of Coraline and ParaNorman official for December 13th. The latter two come as standard editions and as SteelBooks. What else is currently scheduled for December from Shout/Scream? Carrie (1976) is getting a 4K standard and SteelBook release on 12/13, Black Christmas (1974) is getting a 4K release on 12/6, A Walk To Remember is getting the Shout Select blu-ray treatment on 12/13 and lastly, Operation Seawolf is coming 12/6. Paramount has made Planes, Trains and Automobiles official for a 4K release on 11/8. Vinegar Syndrome and partner labels have a pretty large slate for October (direct from their store) and November via Amazon. The biggest highlight is The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 for 4K disc. Even Super Heroes Have Pets - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray & Blu-ray Release Guide - October 2, 2022 - October 8, 2022Queue up intro music... (Everyone should have an intro song, right? What is Yours?) Welcome to Volume 3 Episode 20 of our weekly release guide. A look at the highlights of what's coming to disc this week, as well as a look at announcements from last week. 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases- Starting out this category this week with Import Monday, we have a single release, and that would be Thor: Love and Thunder - Zavvi Exclusive Collector's Edition 4K Ultra HD Steelbook. Out of frustration I seem to mention it almost weekly on how other markets are getting nicer editions, some times much nicer editions. Domestic Tuesday's New Release is DC League of Super-Pets. I didn't hear much about it when it ran theatrically, it's got decent voice talent. Moving on to catalog titles now, Scream Factory has a trio of SKUs representing FOUR movies. Army of Darkness comes as a standard edition and a SteelBook edition. Lastly, a box set of The Halloween Collection which covers the years of 1995 - 2002. From Criterion, George A Romero's original Night of the Living Dead. This is the original that set the bar and was often imitated, along with all the unofficial releases over the years. The next logical release of the franchise, Scream 2 gets a standard release and a SteelBook release. Losing count how many times I got this one, Fright Night (1985) gets a snazzy 4K upgrade, as a SteelBook edition to boot! Also from Sony, Bram Stoker's Dracula gets a new Dolby Vision pass and this too, a SteelBook release. I thought I had gotten lucky when I found the previous release for $6 or so. Blu-ray releases- Overall quite a slow week for blu-ray releases. Blu-ray counterparts of the above releases actually is only one title, everything else has been readily available already. That one title would be DC League of Super-Pets. TV on disc includes Bel-Air: Season One, Dexter: The Complete Series + Dexter: New Blood, Mr. Mayor: The Complete Series and Star Trek: Picard - Season Two, which is available as a standard edition and a SteelBook edition, LionsGate's entry this week is a thriller titled Into the Deep. Anime highlights include Kingdom - Season 3 Part 2, One Piece: Season Twelve - Voyage One and Zombie Land Saga Revenge: Season Two. This Friday the September batch of Imprint Films Titles will be available via Amazon. I'm anxious to see the rest of the Dreamworks animated catalog in coming months, of course that requires consumer interest, which is for us to purchase them as they come out. I would love a box set of everything so far or sets for each franchise but that is not a guarantee. Good news for TV on disc, Westworld: Season 4: The Choice has been announced for 4K and blu-ray discs on November 29th. When we got Death Wish 2 in 4K from Vinegar Syndrome, I am sure I was thinking the same as you were, where's the original Bronson vigilante film? Did Thor Really Think Retirement Would Last? 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray & Blu-ray Release Guide - September 25, 2022 - October 1, 2022Is it too early to say 'Trick or Treat' or 'Happy Halloween'? The 31 days of horror kicks off towards the end of this week and no doubt Halloween shops are set up everywhere. It is probably my favorite 'holiday' if I had to choose one. Welcome to Volume 3 Episode 19 of our weekly release guide. A look at the highlights of what's coming to disc this week, as well as a look at announcements from last week. 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases- We made it! Almost through a wild month of 4K releases. They did save the biggest week for last though. If you are going for any of the SteelBook reprints then this week is huuuuuge. Next month looks to be another wallet-buster, stay tuned for our Monthly Guide. Import Monday brings Invaders from Mars (1953) from Ignite Films. Domestic Tuesday has one New Release with three buying options. I am of course referring to Thor: Love and Thunder, available as a standard edition, a Best Buy Exclusive SteelBook and a Walmart Exclusive edition. Target seems absent from the mix again, and if you dig the SteelBook, you might at least consider the Zavvi Exclusive that comes out next week as it includes a side-load slip case as well as some swag. Catalog releases aplenty. If you were unable to score Cloak & Dagger direct from Vinegar Syndrome, there's a general release available now on Amazon. The same is to be said for The Incredible Melting Man too. Scream Factory has got Evil Dead (2013). Team Kino Lorber's slate is brought to you by the letter "I" with both In Bruges Criterion Collection has a 4K this week and that would be Sound of Metal. We get another 'Paramount Presents' 4K release this week, The War of the Worlds. They also have a bonus blu-ray movie of When Worlds Collide. From Sony Pictures, I Know What You Did Last Summer. Will the sequels follow? We saved the rest of Sony for last because this week they're offering an opportunity. The opportunity to get a SteelBook release of a title you might have missed out on in the past. Some of these were previously Best Buy Exclusives. The list includes Gattaca, Jumanji: The Next Level, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Last Action Hero, Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Venom, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Zombieland and Zombieland: Double Tap. Next week a dark army, someones' pets, a couple of vampires, yell again and a collection of holiday movies. Blu-ray releases- Blu-ray counterparts of the 4K titles first. Thor: Love and Thunder comes with the cover art that I wish the 4K standard release did. And half of the letter "I" from team Kino with In Bruges, and Sound of Metal from Criterion. LionsGate's action film of the week is Bullet Proof and nope, Bruce Willis is not in it. From Kino Lorber, just because I knew you still wanted a Bruce Willis movie this week, 1991's Hudson Hawk. Rob Zombie's The Munsters comes at us via Universal Pictures. If you've bought the previous three, you gotta buy number 4, Criterion Collection offers up Martin Scorsese’s World Cinema Project No. 4. Television on disc includes Mayor of Kingstown: Season One from Paramount and Superman & Lois: The Complete Second Season from Warner Bros. Very big week for Anime, highlights include Beelzebub: The Complete TV Series, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Train Arc, Dororo - Complete Collection [Premium Box Set], The House of the Lost on the Cape, How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom - Part 1, available as a standard edition and a limited edition, KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World!: The Complete Second Season + OVA [SteelBook], Saiyuki Reload Gunlock, Tales of Phantasia: The Animation and Urusei Yatsura The Movie 5: The Final Chapter. Honorable Mention: Visual Vengeance is trying to make a name for itself with above par releases, this week take a look at Blood of the Chupacabras (Double Feature). Notable announcements from last week: First Blood (Three different exclusive editions from Zavvi) have been delayed yet again, this time to October 17th. This is the last time I mention them as they're mostly sold out any way. Reservoir Dogs 4K is official for a November 15th street date, and an added bonus, a slipcover style SteelBook has also been added to the mix at Best Buy. Puss in Boots is getting a 4K release on November 22nd via Universal Pictures and Dreamworks. Could it be the Shrek sequels are coming soon to? 48 Hrs. and Another 48 Hrs., as well as a double feature of them will be coming to 4K disc on December 6th. Shout Factory has revealed that Coraline and ParaNorman will be getting 4K and 4K SteelBook editions on December 13th. Road House will finally be getting a 4K release, from Vinegar Syndrome. Release date is expected to be November 29th. There are some questions on the master they are using, hopefully it will be a stellar release. In the Northern Hemisphere Fall Begins on Thursday. How has this month been to your wallets thus far? Welcome to Volume 3 Episode 18 of our weekly release guide. A look at the highlights of what's coming to disc this week, as well as a look at announcements from last week. 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases- This week the 4K disc category is pretty manageable, and there actually are no 'new' releases. Import Monday has the same exact movies that Domestic Tuesday but come with two differences, one that the import includes various articles of swag, such as a poster, lobby cards, or other such pack-ins, and two, there is no digital code. Weigh your options here. Crawl (Paramount Pictures) gets a Zavvi Exclusive Collector's Edition. A standard edition of Poltergeist, as well as the swag-filled Zavvi Exclusive SteelBook comes from Warner Bros. The Lost Boys has a swag-filled Zavvi Exclusive SteelBook too. Domestic Tuesday's counterpart titles include Crawl from Paramount Pictures. From Warner Bros, Poltergeist gets a standard case release as well as a Best Buy Exclusive SteelBook. The Lost Boys carries from last week to this week with a standard case release and a Best Buy Exclusive SteelBook. Still with Warner Bros, Batman: The Long Halloween gets a deluxe edition. This includes parts 1 & 2 as a single movie. Old Henry gets a 4K upgrade from Shout Factory. And finally, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull gets a general release SteelBook with the standard movie poster cover art, just like the predecessors. Next week looks infinitely worse than it really is. If you missed out on a lot of SteelBook releases, Sony is reprinting them and offering them up again, so it could still be pretty pricey. But there's a lot, including dead people, summer knowledge, hitmen in Ireland, how dare you, drummer boy, a norse god, and of course HG Wells' best known work. Blu-ray releases- Blu-ray counterpart this week is just Batman: The Long Halloween, in case you had not bought the previous two releases. From Universal Pictures, an odd combination of genres, Comedy/Mystery/Thriller Vengeance debuts to disc this week. Anime highlights include Dragon Ball Super: Complete Series [Collector's SteelBook], Girls und Panzer das Finale - Part 3 and SHADOWS HOUSE - The Complete Season. TV On Disc: From Sony, Outlander: Season 6 comes as a standard edition and as a Limited Collector's Edition. From CBS, Walker: Season One (2021). Great time to put the Chuck Norris series on blu-ray (hint hint). Somewhere I read that Bruce Willis had retired, but it feels like every week has another film release or two with him in it. From Vertical Entertainment, this week it is in Wrong Place. Criterion Collection this week is offering Exotica, a title considered a psychological thriller. If that's not your thing, maybe Le Corbeau, a French drama/war film is. Looking for another shark movie? The Reef: Stalked comes via RLJ Entertainment. You know you wanted another one. The next classic film from Powerhouse Films' Indicator Series comes out this week with Orders To Kill. Honorable Mention: Out of print Twilight Time titles get another go, this time via Sandpiper Pictures. Look for Woody Allen's Bananas, Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex* (*But were afraid to ask) and Love and Death. Notable announcements from last week: Raw Deal 4K [Import] starring Arnold Schwarzenegger has been pushed from this week to October 24th. This one has yet to even get a blu-ray release in the U.S., we can only hope right? Jordan Peele's Nope has been made official for disc release on October 25th. Criterion Collection has announced their December titles. Call me lost, I really cannot say for sure that I know any of them. Halo: Season One is getting a blu-ray, 4K disc as well as a 4K disc SteelBook edition November 15th. Ain't Nothin' But a Hound Dog - 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray & Blu-ray Release Guide - September 11, 2022 - September 17, 2022Anyone that follows some of the trade sites for disc media probably read that 4K discs just experienced their highest sales share ever. In a market that is contracting, that is overall good news. With all the good releases this month, what are you going to get? Are we going to set a new record this month too? Welcome to Volume 3 Episode 17 of our weekly release guide. A look at the highlights of what's coming to disc this week, as well as a look at announcements from last week. 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases- By volume, this week is about the same as last week for 4K titles, but there appears to be more variety. Starting with import Monday first, Zavvi has an exclusive SteelBook of the 2021 action film Nobody, and just like so many other UK releases, it includes a bit of swag and a side load slip case to hold it all. There are two New Releases on Tuesday's docket, both titles were short-notice announcements. And even though September was already pretty crowded, the studios still decided to go for it anyway. First from Warner Bros., the 2022 biopic film Elvis. I've still not seen a Tom Hanks movie that I have disliked. Sure, he is not Elvis, but he's a supporting role. From Disney/Pixar comes Lightyear, and surprisingly this one has only two options, a standard release and a Best Buy Exclusive SteelBook. No Target, No Walmart, and best I can tell, Zavvi is identical to Best Buy's. Maybe I will save a few bucks here. (When I can't decide, I tend to overspend.) On to catalog titles, and probably the best way to sort them out is by label. From Paramount, the steamy thriller Fatal Attraction starring Michael Douglas and Glenn Close. Well known slasher pic Friday the 13th debuts to 4K disc as well. The completionist in me says bring them all, but I sort of suspect they will do them one-by-one like the Scream films. The Addams Family (1991) also get a SteelBook repackage. Universal has got a single entry this week, Monty Python's The Meaning of Life. Which member of the Python cast is your favourite? <-- See what I did there? Sony Pictures brings 80's comedy Real Genius to 4K disc. Fond memories back when this came out have caused me to preorder this one! Still in the same decade, Warner Bros. offers up The Lost Boys as a standard edition and a Best Buy Exclusive SteelBook. Moved to September 20th. Last, but certainly not least, Shout Select has the '86 drama/war film Platoon, and under the Scream Factory label, John Carpenter's The Fog, offered up in a standard package and a general release Limited Edition SteelBook Edition. Next week, voracious reptiles, literally channeling a TV, Batman sees pumpkins, Henry has aged and more. Blu-ray releases- Let's do what we do every week, list and blu-ray counterparts of the above 4K release titles. From Warner Bros, the 2022 biopic Elvis sees blu-ray/dvd/digital combo pack. And from Disney/Pixar, Lightyear also sees the same type of combo pack. There are no retailer exclusives on the latter. Sony MOD is releasing 28 Days (2000) starring Sandra Bullock, Caught (1996) and A Weekend with Lulu. Under the standard Sony Pictures label comes Where the Crawdads Sing, based on the mystery novel of the same name. Warner Archive has got Abe Lincoln in Illinois (1940) for us this week. Cool World gets a long overdue release under the Shout Select label. Criterion Collectors should be looking for Take Out this week. TV on disc includes Eli Roth’s History of Horror: Season 3 from RLJ and Lucifer: The Sixth & Final Season from Warner Bros. From Vertical Entertainment, the 2022 horror film Abandoned streets on Tuesday. In the drama category, look for The Forgiven (2021). LionsGate has Cave Rescue, which is, as you guess, based on the event that happened recently in Thailand. Anime highlights include BACK ARROW - Part 2 and Saiyuki Gaiden: Complete Collection. Honorable mention: George A. Romero's The Amusement Park comes to us via RLJ Entertainment/Shudder Films. Notable announcements from last week: Announcements keep happening and listings keep popping up, that is the way things should be. Kino Lorber has indicated a 4K disc release for Needful Things will be happening soon, likely late November is my guess. Paramount Presents' next title will be Blue Hawaii on 4K disc, the original listing indicated November 15th. To Kill a Mockingbird will be getting a 4K disc AND a 4K disc giftset on October 11th from Universal. I hope this is a sign of things to come, time and time again the UK gets a giftset with swag such as theater cards, book, etc and the US gets just a disc in a case. Beam Us Up! - High-Def Digest's 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray & Blu-ray Release Guide September 4, 2022 - September 10, 2022First actual full week of September is upon us, pumpkin spice has been in the air a week or three, in our food and in our beer. We kind of did let you know that it is going to be a big month for 4K disc shoppers, this week is just a warm-up. Welcome to Volume 3 Episode 16 of our weekly release guide. A look at the highlights of what's coming to disc this week, as well as a look at announcements from last week. 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases- Let's roll! Actually, this week is not too bad for 4K shoppers, unless you are a big Star Trek fan. For me, that means it's bad! But before we do that, let's mention the single new release title first. Just like other recent titles from them, Universal chose to announce this one with practically zero notice. I haven't seen it myself but I have all of the others in the franchise on 4K disc. I have read that it was censored in China and they have also added a "Crime doesn't pay" message at the end, I'm referring to Minions: The Rise of Gru. Moving on to what is dubbed as "the final frontier", there are plenty'o Star Trek releases this week. Because it's logical to start at the beginning, let's start with Star Trek: The Motion Picture. The most complete edition is dubbed The Director's Edition The Complete Adventure and includes the theatrical, director's and the 1983 longer TV editions. For a breakdown of all three versions and their features, visit the link to read the review, then you can order it from there. If you're looking to add the Director's Edition which includes a new Atmos mix, a new Dolby Vision pass, and you do not care for the TV edition, the release simply labeled The Director's Edition is for you. Did you buy the original 4-movie collection and simply want Star Trek V: The Final Frontier and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country? Yup, these links will send you that direction. As much as I hate to double-dip, mathematically, it might make sense to buy Star Trek: The Original Motion Picture 6-Movie Collection to get everything in one package (minus the TV version of The Motion Picture). Prefer singles for all the movies? Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Star Trek III: The Search for Spock and Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home can be bought that way too, and all feature the movie poster artwork. Scream Factory has The Funhouse (1981) to help get in the mood for Halloween (and pumpkin spice). If you collect Criterion releases, or you're looking for a good flick, Blow Out starring John Travolta can be part of your collection Tuesday. Semi-double-dip of 3:10 to Yuma comes out, but as one of those Best Buy Exclusive slipcover style SteelBooks. A Quiet Place - 2-Movie Collection is also available, two for the price of one, right? Blu-ray releases- Thirty or so domestic release blu-ray titles this week. Just like we do every week, let's list the blu-ray counterparts of the above titles first. From Universal, Minions: The Rise of Gru, alternately there is a Target Exclusive to choose from, and lastly from Paramount, Star Trek: The Motion Picture (Director's Edition), Star Trek V: The Final Frontier and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. LionsGate's entry this week is in the Thriller category with Paradise Highway. TV on disc this week includes Peacemaker: The Complete First Season (no order link yet, delayed??) and Young Sheldon: The Complete Fifth Season, both via Warner Bros. The Warner Archive label releases Rachel, Rachel this week as well. Anime highlights include Boruto: Naruto Next Generations - Set 13 (The Vessel), Magical Warfare: Complete Collection and RE-MAIN - The Complete Season. 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray & Blu-ray Release Guide - August 28, 2022 - September 3, 2022...drum roll please. August is coming to a close, and that means a bunch of things actually, but in this case, prepare yourselves for September releases. You have heard us mention it a few times just how big that month has shaped up to be. But, don't despair quite yet, let's close out August first. Welcome to Volume 3 Episode 15 of our weekly release guide. A look at the highlights of what's coming to disc this week, as well as a look at announcements from last week. 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases- Import Monday starts out with a Zavvi Exclusive SteelBook for Halloween Kills. No actual 'new releases' don domestic release Tuesday. The newest title though to get a 4K release is the hit anime Belle, from Shout Factory/GKIDS. This one has got some swag to go with it. You all know how much I like swag, do check it out if you like anime! Scream Factory releases Cat People after a small delay. LionsGate has another 4K Best Buy Exclusive slipcover style SteelBook with 2011's Warrior. Boutique label Vinegar Syndrome has a standard edition for Miami Connection this week, and Severin Films has Faceless. Next week, Gru, the vast final frontier, a train ride, a carnival and a BDP thriller. Blu-ray releases- There is one blu-ray counterpart to the above 4K releases, Faceless from Severin Films. TV on disc category includes 1883: A Yellowstone Origin Story, The Bionic Woman: The Complete Series and Good Witch: The Complete Series. LionsGate's entry this week is a comedy/horror titled American Carnage. With a 3.5 second street date notice, Universal brings us the 2022 comedy Brian and Charles. How about a little more comedy, but from Sony? The Phantom of the Open comes to disc with a title that your mind's auto-correct keeps calling something else. Criterion Collectors BOLO for Faya Dayi. From Arrow Video, Giallo Essentials V3 Black Edition comes to limited edition release. And if you've been waiting for a proper release of Running Out Of Time Collection, hopefully Arrow's got your back there too. Anime highlights include Fatal Fury the Motion Picture [SteelBook], Lupin the 3rd VS Detective Conan the TV Special, Project A-ko 2, Rent-A-Girlfriend: Complete Collection [Premium Box Set], Sonny Boy - The Complete Season and Suppose a Kid from the Last Dungeon Boonies Moved to a Starter Town? - The Complete Season which is available as a standard edition and a Limited Editon. Honorable mention this week is a Shout Select release titled A Walk In The Woods featuring Robert Redford, Nick Nolte and Emma Thompson. Next week's blu-ray slate is a bit light, which for 4K buyers is a huge load off our backs. Notable announcements from last week: Knowing that September is a very, VEEERRRYYY crowded month for new releases, is anyone surprised that Disney has just announced Thor: Love and Thunder for a September 27th release date? I'm going to shut up now before I say something I shouldn't. 88 Films will be releasing Police Story 3: Supercop to 4K and blu-ray on December 13th. If you opt to import, Eureka is releasing the trilogy to 4K in September. Arrow Video's North America slate (in addition to Shawscope Volume Two) now also includes Audrey Rose and Incredible But True. If you're ok with buying imports though, they have multiple 4K editions of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, as well as a 4K edition to Wolf of Wall Street. One has to wonder if either will get an Arrow US release like True Romance did (a year after the fact). I am actually quite surprised Warner did not release Robin Hood to 4K, maybe they will, maybe they won't. More TV on disc from CBS with Hogan's Heroes: The Complete Series coming october 25th. Classic cinema from Universal with To Kill a Mockingbird coming to 4K on October 11th. 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray & Blu-ray Release Guide - August 21, 2022 - August 27, 2022Wow, another month coming to end end. For disc releases this means we are getting into dangerous (to our wallets) territory as September approaches. We still have one more Tuesday for the month, but it's never too soon to be prepared. Welcome to Volume 3 Episode 14 of our weekly release guide. A look at the highlights of what's coming to disc this week, as well as a look at announcements from last week. 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases- There are zero New Releases this week in this category, but we do have a few decent catalog options. Import Monday starts out with Dog Soldiers (Collector's Edition) from Second Sight. Another import with a lot of cool swag, count me in! Domestic Release Tuesday catalog titles next. First from Scream Factory, Dog Soldiers gets their Collector's Edition treatment, which in this case is a bunch of extras on disc, some of which are brand new. War drama Paths of Glory, directed by Stanley Kubrick and starring Kirk Douglas comes to 4K disc via Kino Lorber. David Krauss says this one is a "Must Own" release, who am I to argue that assessment? LionsGate double-dips on Dirty Dancing which, in my opinion, a much better cover art than the previous Best Buy exclusive release. Next week, another double-dip SteelBook but with a different cover, award winning anime, bloodsport, meow and more. Blu-ray releases- There are no blu-ray counterparts to the above 4K releases this week. TV on disc includes Naomi: The Complete Series and Starhunter ReduX: The Complete Series. If you have been waiting for Buck and the Preacher to hit blu-ray, Criterion Collection has got you covered. Not done there, Hotel du Nord is also available this week from Criterion. Anime highlights include Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?! Season 3 [Premium Box Set], Kingdom - Season 3 Part 1 and My Hero Academia World Heroes' Mission which is available as a standard edition, a Walmart Exclusive Giftset and as a Best Buy Exclusive SteelBook. Formerly listed as Scorpion Releasing titles, Ronin Flix has some action for you. Choose from JCVD, Charles Bronson, and/or Chuck Norris with Death Warrant, Death Wish 3, The Delta Force and Lone Wolf McQuade. There are multiple Universal small batch (MOD) classic film releases listed for this week which I would love to mention, but Amazon still does not have cover arts so I wonder if they will be moved to the already bloated month of September or to next week. Some of these titles were part of the Kino Film Noir box sets. Vintage Tarzan from The Film Detective, The Tarzan Vault Collection streets this week. Honorable Mention (?): OK, this is just too funny to pass up. Not sure what to think of it, but Amityville In Space / Amityville In The Hood (Double Feature) comes to blu-ray. Don't go in with high expectations. Notable announcements from last week: First Blood 4K (Zavvi Exclusive) was getting three editions to pick from this week but they have been pushed back a month to September 26, which makes September that much harder to swallow. Dragons Forever 4K also been pushed back to September 13. Do we need to open a home equity or second mortgage to get all the titles we want in September? Criterion Collection's November Titles include Daisies, In the Mood for Love 4K, The Power of the Dog 4K and blu-ray, The Infernal Affairs Trilogy and Malcolm X 4K and blu-ray editions. Steven Soderbergh's The Limey will be getting a 4K SteelBook release on October 11th via LionsGate and Best Buy. Kino Lorber will be releasing Red Dragon to 4K later this year. 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray & Blu-ray Release Guide - August 14, 2022 - August 20, 2022Falling behind on movie viewing? Buying titles at a faster pace than watching them, the struggle is real. From limited editions to just wanting to make sure I get a slip cover, those are just a couple of factors at play. When did you fall behind and why? Welcome to Volume 3 Episode 13 of our weekly release guide. A look at the highlights of what's coming to disc this week, as well as a look at announcements from last week. 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases- Kicking off the new releases category, <insert studio name> did it again, they announced a major release with a street date less than ten days out. In this case, Universal announced Jurassic World: Dominion on the 9th, with a street date of the 16th. Retailers received copies this past week and all over the net people were posting photos. This film is supposed to be the 'conclusion' of the Jurassic era, I guess til they make another one. Options are not as wide as expected. With just the standard 4K, the 4K SteelBook, the 6 movie collection and the 6 movie limited edition collection, which includes a Velociraptor statue, I was sort of hoping for a 6 movie SteelBook collection with cover arts similar to the single SteelBook we get this week. Call me shocked to NOT see any retailer exclusives here. On to Catalog titles. OK, Scream Factory has a big week this week with a handful of titles and options. Chucky slashes his way to 4K with Child's Play, available as a standard edition and as a Best Buy Exclusive SteelBook, Child's Play 2 and Child's Play 3. Remember The Wolverines! Red Dawn (1984) also debuts to 4K disc with a standard edition and a Best Buy Exclusive SteelBook. Sony releases Heavy Metal to a standard 4K edition, minus the blu-ray of Heavy Metal 2000. Mentioned a few weeks ago, apparently delayed with no notice, Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar is on track for Tuesday release. No slipcovers thus far on any of the 4K upgrade releases from them, but it we have double dipped, using the previous cover is tempting. Next week, two lycanthropic options, some of Stallone's greatest, 'Baby' gets a doubple-dip, Kubrick and some martial arts. Blu-ray releases- A slow(ish) week for blu-ray releases. But before we go over the highlights, let's list any blu-ray counterparts first. Jurassic World: Dominion gets a standard release, as does the 6 movie collection, and just like the 4K, no retailer exclusive options. Paramount Pictures has a little bit of comedy from their catalog this week, including a couple of titles that were pushed back without notice. Titles include The Back-Up Plan (reissue), Coneheads, Last Vegas (reissue), South Park: The Complete Twenty-Fourth Season, Stalag 17 (reissue), What Women Want and What's Eating Gilbert Grape. Sticking with comedy, from Criterion Collection, two comedies, Daddy Longlegs and Frownland come to disc this week. Sony Pictures is also getting in to the comedy game as well this week, Denise Calls Up comes via their 'Sony Pictures Classics' label. Hardly a comedy, Sniper: Rogue Mission also debuts to disc this week. Another short notice title from Universal, the horror/thriller The Black Phone comes to blu-ray, with no 4K option. Sorry, going to ask, does Blumhouse have something against 4K disc? I realize The Purge franchise has 4K discs, but so many missed opportunities here with other titles. Slow week for anime, just Mobile Suit Gundam SEED - Collection 2 and Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun (Season 1). Honorable mention: Mostly because it seems like a heavy comedy week, Code Red is offering Don't Tell Her It's Me (The Boyfriend School) with Steve Guttenberg, Jami Gertz, Shelley Long. And from Kino Lorber, They Went That-A-Way & That-A-Way with Tim Conway. Notable announcements from last week: Sony has announced that Columbia Classics 4K Ultra HD Collection: Volume 3 will be coming in Septe.... just kidding, initial listings showed September 20th but the official announcement states October 25th. Check out the specs, it's another killer set. All 6 films appear to have Dolby Vision and most of them also have new Atmos mixes. Arrow Video has announced Shawscope Volume Two for a November 22nd street date. Kino Lorber has announced Film Noir: The Dark Side of Cinema XII, Film Noir: The Dark Side of Cinema XIII, Film Noir: The Dark Side of Cinema XIV and Film Noir: The Dark Side of Cinema XV. Final details and order link for Dressed to Kill 4K is also available now. Warner Bros has announced Sweet Tooth: The Complete First Season for blu-ray on October 11th and Mortal Kombat Legends: Snow Blind to 4K and blu-ray on the 11th as well. 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray & Blu-ray Release Guide - August 7, 2022 - August 13, 2022Ever had one of those weeks where you are at a loss for words? Maybe it's the heat and humidity. Don't know about you, but I can't immerse into a good movie when it's like this, the background noise of the AC turning on and off is too distracting for me to truly enjoy the experience. Welcome to Volume 3 Episode 12 of our weekly release guide. A look at the highlights of what's coming to disc this week, as well as a look at announcements from last week. 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases- The 4K disc category is manageable this month, but stay tuned for a rough one in September. This week there's are two New Releases. First, from Paramount, Sonic The Hedgehog 2. This one's available as a standard edition and as a Best Buy Exclusive SteelBook. I cannot remember the last Paramount SteelBook that was a Best Buy Exclusive, but here we are. Speaking of "it's been awhile," BBC has the next David Attenborough nature documentary The Green Planet coming to disc this week. Unlike previous ones though, no SteelBook this time. On to catalog titles next. First we get Michael Mann's Crime/Thriller masterpiece Heat. This one is available as a standard edition and as a SteelBook. Check out the review by clicking the standard edition's link. Drive (1997) comes via 88 Films. I get this one and the more recent film of the same title confused all the time. Both are good films if I remember right, but I am familiar with the other one with Ryan Gosling. Delayed to 9/13. If you've been waiting for a 4K release of Event Horizon, your wait is over. This one is only available as a SteelBook at this time, that doesn't offend me any. Bryan has a review up, do check it out, then use our link to purchase it. And lastly, a 4K upgrade of Doom comes to us via Universal Pictures. Next week, Chucky gets a makeover, the wolverines strike back and more. Blu-ray releases- What do we do every week at the start of this section? You got it, let's list the blu-ray counterparts of the above releases before proceeding. And this week, we only have Sonic The Hedgehog 2 to contend with, which is available as a Walmart exclusive edition as well, which, in my opinion is a better cover. There is also a 2-film collection if you somehow missed the first one. Under the Paramount Presents label, the comedy/musical Back to the Beach. From Warner Bros, Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, a retrospective look back documentary. Still in the documentary mode, Sony Pictures this week has Jazz Fest: A New Orleans Story starring all sort of talent you may have heard of, check it out! For an animated comedy / adventure, Vivo comes to blu-ray this week. LionsGate's entry this week in the action thriller category is titled Hot Seat. In the horror category, a film with a short title, Men. From partner label Vertical Entertainment, action/thriller Last Seen Alive. Director David Cronenberg is still keeping busy, his latest title Crimes of the Future comes via little known label Decal - Neon. Another martial arts release from 88 Films this week, described as 'one of Quentin Tarantino's favourite movies', Flying Guillotine 2. Anime highlights include Combatants Will Be Dispatched! - The Complete Season, which is available as a standard edittion and a limited edition, The Detective Is Already Dead - The Complete Season, Short Peace and Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon - Season 1, Part 2, which is available as a standard editon and as a limited edition. Honorable Mention: Sandpiper Pictures continues to reissue the Twilight Time Catalog and this week's features are Alexander the Great (1956), Equus, Solomon and Sheba and State of Grace. Next week there's a slight reprieve in volume for this category, but there are still a few goodies. Notable announcements from last week: I don't know about you, but if I was a movie studio and I saw that September was very crowded for releases, I would likely push any new announcements to October or later. With that being said... Warner Bros has announced the 2022 movie Elvis will be released to 4K and blu-ray on September 13th. BFI will be releasing Watership Down to 4K disc on October 24th in the UK. It's a roll of the dice as to whether he US market will get it any time soon, and if we do, it will probably not contain any swag like the UK editions of so many releases do.
