BBC Boxes 'Natural History Collection' for Blu-ray[teaser]BBC Video has announced a July next-gen arrival for 'The BBC High-Definition Natural History Collection,' which will compile highlights of the network's top series for the first time on Blu-ray.[/teaser] Culling the best episodes of such top Blu-ray hits as 'Planet Earth,' the deluxe boxed collection will arrive on high-def on July 22 as an eight-disc set. Contents include the original BBC version of 'Planet Earth: The Complete Series' (Episodes 1-11), 'Galapagos' (Episodes 1-3). 'Ganges' (Episodes 1-3) and ''Wild China' (Episodes 1-6). Tech specs and supplement details are identical to the existing stand-alone releases of each title, and BBC says that no additional bonus materials will be included. Warner Brings Digi-Book 'Cuckoo's Nest' to Blu-ray[teaser]Warner has announced the latest addition to its line-up of Digi-Book-packaged Blu-ray classics with the July bow of 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.'[/teaser] First tipped for Blu-ray by Warner early last year, the 1975 Best Picture Oscar winner has at last been scheduled for a next-gen debut on July 15, coming to the format in a deluxe package with multiple extras. Confirmed supplements thus far include those found on the previous special edition DVD release, with audio commentary by director Milos Forman and producer Saul Zaentz, a making-of documentary, and deleted scenes. 'Cuckoo's Nest' will also come packaged in Warner's Digi-Book casing, which features a 36-page collectible booklet with rare photos, script excerpts, and other archival materials. First Look: 'Doomsday' Blu-ray Box Art[teaser]Universal's kick-off Blu-ray title 'Doomsday' won't arrive until late July, but we've got a sneak peek at the box art for the eagerly-awaited release.[/teaser] As we first reported earlier this month, the Neil Marshall-directed action-thriller will launch Universal's Blu-ray support on July 29 (day-and-date with the standard DVD). UMVD Jumps into Blu-ray with 'Postal'[teaser]Newbie UMVD Visual Entertainment has alerted retailers that their debut high-def release 'Postal' will arrive on Blu-ray this August.[/teaser] Directed by much-derided shlockmeister Uwe Boll, 'Postal' stars Zack Ward as a misfit who sets out to rob his local amusement park while getting mixed-up with a faction of the Taliban. Barely released in U.S. cinemas last year, the film grossed less than $5 million at the box office domestically. Marking UMVD's first foray into the next-gen arena, 'Postal' has been given a retail street date of August 26 on Blu-ray, day-and-date with the standard-def DVD. More 'Dragon Ball Z' Coming to Blu-ray[teaser]FUNimation has announced its next round of Dragon Ball Z, with a double-header of 'Dead Zone' and 'World's Strongest' planned for Blu-ray this May.[/teaser] Like the company's previous Dragon Ball Z double-feature releases, 'Dragon Ball Z: The History of Trunks/Bardock: Father of Goku' will present both full-length animes on a single BD-50 dual-layer disc. FUNimation has set a July 15 street date for 'Dead Zone/World's Strongest.' There were no tech specs or supplemental details available for the release at press time, but the previous double-feature releases have boasted full 1080p video, DTS audio and extras, so FUNimation's latest 'Dragon Ball' double-header is expected to include similar features. Fox Adds D-Box to 'Jumper' Blu-ray[teaser]Fox has announced updated details for the Blu-ray release of 'Jumper,' which will now add D-Box to its extras menu.[/teaser] As previously reported, Fox has set a June 10 street date for the Hayden Christensen teleportation thriller (day-and-date with the standard DVD), and unveiled a complete line-up of specs with hours of extras. D-Box combines real-life motion control of your home theater seating in sync with the on-screen action, and Fox will now enhance the 'Jumper' Blu-ray to deliver plenty of rumble during the film's famed teleportation and other action scenes. Previously-announced supplements on the Blu-ray will feature audio commentary (with director Doug Liman, writer-producer Simon Kinberg and producer Lucas Foster), four featurettes ("Jumping From Novel To Film: The Past, Present & Future of Jumper," "Making an Actor Jump," "Doug Liman's Jumper: Uncensored," "Jumping Around The World"), six deleted scenes, "Future Concepts" pre-visuzalizations, and the animated graphic novel "Jumpstart: David's Story." Paramount Plots Unrated 'Ruins' Blu-ray for July[teaser]In an early announcement to retailers, Paramount has revealed plans to bring a never-before-seen unrated version of the horror film 'The Ruins' to Blu-ray this Summer.[/teaser] Based on the best-selling novel by Scott B. Smith, 'The Ruins' earned solid reviews but only managed to scrape up barely $20 million at the domestic box office. Paramount hopes to turn the film's fortunes around on Blu-ray July 8, when it hits stores day-and-date with the standard DVD. 'The Bank Job' Details, Box Art Bust Out[teaser]Full specs and box art are in for the July Blu-ray debut of 'The Bank Job,' which will hit high-def with two discs of extras and Digital Copy.[/teaser] As we've previously reported, Lionsgate has set a July 15 date for the Jason Statham heist flick, which will hit Blu-ray day-and-date with single-disc and two-disc DVD editions. The BD-50 dual-layer presentation will feature 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video, an English PCM 7.1 Surround soundtrack, and English and Spanish subtitles. Extras on both the Blu-ray and two-disc DVD are identical, with a half-dozen making-of featurettes, deleted scenes, and an extra disc with Digital Copy, allowing users to download a portable (standard-def) edition of the film for viewing on PCs and portable devices. Echo Bridge Announces Next Pair of Budget Blu-rays[teaser]Echo Bridge has unveiled its latest slate of bargain-priced Blu-ray releases, with a pair of TV disaster titles due in early Summer.[/teaser] On tap for June 3, Echo Bridge will release the NBC all-star (well, Steve Guttenberg's in it) television adaptation of 'The Poseidon Adventure,' as well as the Daryl Hannah-Campbell Scott end-of-the-world adventure 'Final Days of Planet Earth.
