Jet Li's 'Black Mask' to Deliver Blu-ray Kicks

Lionsgate has announced plans to bring the cult Hong Kong action-thriller 'Black Mask' to Blu-ray this September.

Starring Jet Li as the survivor of a military experiment who must take on a superhero-like masked visage to fight his former comrades, the 1996 Daniel Lee-directed actioner will hit Blu-ray on September 2. (Lionsgate previously released the film on standard DVD in 2001.)

Presented in its U.S. theatrical cut version, the Blu-ray includes 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video and an English DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 7.1 Surround dub. At press time, Lionsgate had not announced if the release will also include the original foreign-language soundtrack.

Extras include a breakdown of the film's "Wushu Technique" action moves, plus a "Black Mask" interactive film trivia game (not BD-Java-enabled).

Suggested retail for the Blu-ray has been set at $29.98.

You'll find the latest specs for 'Black Mask' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule, where it's indexed under September 2.
