The 2012 comedy from Aram Rappaport will pour some sugar on Blu-ray in August.

In an early announcement to retailers, Magnolia is preparing to release 'Syrup' on Blu-ray on August 13.

Based on the best-selling book, 'Syrup' is an edgy comedy that exposes the cut-throat world of advertising through the eyes of a young prodigy chasing fame, fortune, and the woman of his dreams. Fresh out of school with a degree in marketing, Scat will do anything to prove that he has what it takes to swim with the rich and wildly successful. Scat comes up with a brilliant new product that gives new meaning to the old saying "sex sells." He is sure it will send him right to the top…if only he can convince his boss, the beautiful and mysterious "6," that it's an idea worth millions. Betrayed by his best friend "Sneaky Pete," Scat stumbles through an industry riddled with deception. As he begins to realize that fame and fortune have cost him his morality, he must rediscover his true self behind the elaborate image he has created or risk losing the love of his life. In a world where the average person sees over eight hundred ads in a single day, SYRUP takes a biting look at the insidious—and often ridiculous—side of advertising. Crackling with romance and humor, this razor-sharp satire leaves you guessing and laughing until the end.

Specs and supplements haven't been revealed yet, but the suggested list price for the Blu-ray is $29.98.

'Sushi Girl' Blu-ray Dated

Thu Jan 31, 2013 at 09:00 AM ET
Tags: Magnolia, Disc Announcements (all tags)

The hotly anticipated genre-bending thriller by director Kern Saxton is coming to Blu-ray in February.

As previously reported, Magnolia/Phase 4 Films have revealed they've acquired the North American distribution rights to 'Sushi Girl' and plan on bringing the film to Blu-ray in early 2013, and now it looks like that date is February 19.

Mark Hamill ('Star Wars' Franchise) and Tony Todd ('Candyman') lead a cast of cult heroes including Noah Hathaway ('The NeverEnding Story'), James Duval ('Donnie Darko'), Andy Mackenzie ('MacGruber'), David Dastmalchian ('The Dark Knight') and Cortney Palm ('Superbad'). 'Sushi Girl' also includes feature appearances by Michael Biehn ('Aliens'), Sonny Chiba ('Kill Bill Vol. 1'), Jeff Fahey ('Grindhouse') and Danny Trejo ('Machete').

The film centers on the compelling character of a man called “Fish,” just released after six years in jail after successfully not ratting on those involved in the robbery that sent him to prison. The night he is released, the men he protected with silence celebrate his freedom with a congratulatory dinner. The meal is a lavish array of sushi, served off the naked body of a beautiful young woman. The sushi girl seems catatonic, trained to ignore everything in the room, even if things become dangerous. Sure enough, the unwieldy thieves can’t help but open old wounds in an attempt to find their missing loot, with violent results.

“'Sushi Girl’s all-star ensemble of fan favorite actors will resonate with the Magnet audience,” said Head of Magnolia Home Entertainment Randy Wells. “Kern and the 'Sushi Girl' production team have put together an incredibly cool, well-crafted thriller, and Mark Hamill’s performance will leave fans buzzing.”
