'Burning Palms' Announced for Blu-ray[teaser]The anthology of five darkly comedic tales is bound for Blu-ray in May! [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Image Entertainment will be releasing 'Burning Palms' to high-definition on May 24. Written and directed by Christopher B. Landon ('Dirty Sexy Money,' 'Disturbia,' 'Paranormal Activity 2'), 'Burning Palms' is a collection of separate stories united in cynicism, darkness and despair. The wit is sardonic, the humor is macabre…but their individual quests for happiness are pure L.A! 'Fubar: Balls to the Wall' Blu-ray Detailed[teaser]The headbanging comedy coming to high-def at the end of the month has been detailed. [/teaser] As previously reported, Screen Media Films will release 'Fubar: Balls to the Wall' for Blu-ray on April 19. In 'Fubar: Balls to the Wall,' headbanger relics, Terry (Dave Lawrence) and Dean (Paul J. Spence), are tired of trying to give'r while barely scraping by, so when their old buddy, Tron (Andrew Sparacino), hooks them up with jobs they head up North to make sweet cash working on the pipelines during the holidays. Flush with money and confidence, Terry starts dating Trish (Terra Hazelton), a local waitress, and things get serious in a hurry. Meanwhile, Dean is playing up the part of ‘cancer survivor,’ and upon hearing about the glories of Worker’s Compensation, purposely injures himself in an attempt to qualify. When Terry then moves in with Trish, Dean does his best to save his buddy from swapping the banger life for domestic captivity, but his own life starts to spiral out of control when the Workers’ Compensation Board denies his claim and his doctor shows up out of the blue with some fateful news. Completely broken by his own self-destruction, Dean must rise to take control and fight for the things that mean the most: his family, his friends, and Christmas. Dish Network Wins Bid, Acquires Blockbuster[teaser]After adjustments for inventory and other considerations, Dish is paying around $228 million in cash. [/teaser] The auction for the rental giant has closed and Dish Network has emerged as the winner. Their bid was for $320 million, but the company says that they expect to pay around $228 million in cash when all is said and done. "With its more than 1,700 store locations, a highly recognizable brand and multiple methods of delivery," says Tom Cullen, VP of Sales and Marketing for Dish, "Blockbuster will complement our existing video offerings while presenting cross-marketing and service extension opportunities for Dish Network." Dish has not yet revealed what they plan to do with Blockbuster's existing stores or how they plan to leverage their new acquisition, but Cullen says that "we look forward to working with its employees to re-establish Blockbuster's brand as a leader in video entertainment."
