'Alpha House: Season 1' Coming to Blu-ray[teaser]The Amazon original series is making a run for Blu-ray in September. You can pre-order the show here. [/teaser]In an early announcement to retailers, Amazon is preparing 'Alpha House: Season 1' for Blu-ray on September 16. Emmy award winner John Goodman ('Roseanne,' 'Argo') stars in 'Alpha House,' an inside-the-beltway comedy series from Garry Trudeau (Pulitzer-Prize winning creator of Doonesbury) about four Republican senators all living together in one Capitol Hill townhouse. Cantankerous senator Gil John Biggs (Goodman) makes winning look easy, but that's because he's never had a real fight for his seat. When former rival Digger Mancusi announces he's running, the race gets real. His roommates have their own set of issues: Former Mormon missionary Louis Laffer (Matt Malloy) has his masculinity questioned when he runs against a macho man’s man. Ethically challenged Robert Bettencourt (Clark Johnson) worries that his home state of Pennsylvania is turning against him. And then there’s the not-so-distinguished gentleman who makes this a full house: Florida senator Andy Guzman (Mark Consuelos) – freshly divorced, with presidential ambitions as over the top as his frequent sexual adventures. Season one features a roll call of high-profile guest stars including Bill Murray ('Saturday Night Live'), Wanda Sykes ('Curb Your Enthusiasm'), Cynthia Nixon ('Sex and the City'), Amy Sedaris ('Strangers With Candy') and Stephen Colbert ('The Colbert Report'). The Newsroom follows a troupe of zealous journalists earnestly trying to reclaim the legacy of Murrow and Cronkite in the face of a fickle audience, corporate mandates and tangled personal relationships. Season Two picks up a year after Season One, in the days leading up to Election Night 2012. The News Night staff is being prepared to give depositions in a wrongful termination lawsuit filed by a staff member alleged to have doctored a report about a suspicious U.S. Drone strike. As details about the suit's origin and aftermath emerge, the team continues its quixotic mission to "do the news well" in the face of corporate and commercial obstacles, and their own personal entanglements. While the series is set at a fictional network, news stories covered in the News Night cablecast are often actual past events, or are inspired by them. The Newsroom offers viewers an opportunity to return to and relive the news events that made headlines, as they watch it unfold for the show's characters, who race to put together the broadcast. Flashing back to earlier events from August 2011 to November 2012, the new season touches on the administration's anti-terrorism policy, Occupy Wall Street, Troy Davis, Trayvon Martin, Benghazi and, of course, the primaries and general election.
