HBO's 'The Leftovers: The Complete First Season' Announced for Blu-ray[teaser]The first season of the fantasy series is planned for Blu-ray in October. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, HBO is set to release 'The Leftovers: The Complete First Season' on Blu-ray October 6. When 2% of the world's population abruptly disappears without explanation, the world struggles to come to terms with what happened. Three years later, the HBO drama series, The Leftovers tells the story of the people who didn't make the cut. Based on the bestselling novel by Tom Perrotta, the series follows Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux), a father of two and the chief of police in a small New York suburb, as he tries to maintain some semblance of normalcy when the notion no longer applies. Created by Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof and Perrotta, the series is executive produced by Lindelof, Perrotta and Friday Night Lights executive producers Peter Berg and Sarah Aubrey. PBS' 'The Crimson Field' Blu-ray Announced[teaser]The war medical drama is planned for Blu-ray in July. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, PBS is preparing to bring 'The Crimson Field' to Blu-ray on July 14. In a tented field hospital on the coast of France, a team of doctors, nurses, and volunteers work together to heal the bodies and souls of men wounded in the trenches of WWI. The hospital is a frontier: between the battlefield and home front but also between the old rules, hierarchies, class distinctions, and a new way of thinking. Kitty (Oona Chaplin, Game of Thrones), Rosalie, and Flora arrive as the hospital’s first volunteer nurses and struggle to be accepted by the established medical team. Wim Wenders and Juliano Ribeiro Salgado's 'The Salt of the Earth' Bound for Blu-ray[teaser]The acclaimed documentary arrives on Blu-ray in July. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Sony is set to bring 'The Salt of the Earth' to Blu-ray on July 14. For the last 40 years, the photographer Sebastião Salgado has been travelling through the continents, in the footsteps of an ever-changing humanity. He has witnessed some of the major events of our recent history; international conflicts, starvation and exodus. He is now embarking on the discovery of pristine territories, of wild fauna and flora, and of grandiose landscapes as part of a huge photographic project, which is a tribute to the planet's beauty. Sebastião Salgado's life and work are revealed to us by his son, Juliano, who went with him during his last travels, and by Wim Wenders, himself a photographer. Functioning as a straight-up send-up of Dario Argento, Mario Bava and the cinematic sorcerers of '70s slasher films, Canadian horror comedy The Editor is a charming tribute to the unsung classics of giallo, an Italian subgenre known for its gory and gruesome erotic horror.
