'Ghost in the Shell (Limited Mondo Steelbook)' Blu-ray Announced[teaser]The anime classic is getting a limited steelbook edition in March.[/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Starz/Anchor Bay is preparing 'Ghost in the Shell (Limited Mondo Steelbook)' for Blu-ray on March 14. Set in the year 2029 and following World Wars III and IV, a Japanese-led Asian block dominates world affairs. The alliance maintains its international supremacy through its elite security force whose cybernetically enhanced operatives tackle an array of hi-tech terrorists and other threats to international security. These augmented agents can "ghost hack" (i.e., download their consciousness) via the now omnipresent internet into other machines and human/machine cross breeds. Major Motoko Kusanagi, a cybernetically augmented female agent, has been tracking a virtual entity known as the Puppet Master with her crack squad of security agents. The shape-shifting Puppet Master, a rogue creation of a rival agency of the security apparatus, has concluded that it is a life form in its own right, "born in sea of information," and requested political asylum and true physical existence in defiance of its creators. Film Movement Preps 'Pelle the Conqueror' for Blu-ray[teaser]Director Bille August's film will celebrate its 30th anniversary on Blu-ray in May.[/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Film Movement is preparing 'Pelle the Conqueror' for Blu-ray on May 2. Lasse, an elderly and widowed farmer, and his young son Pelle, join a boat-load of immigrants to escape from impoverished rural Sweden to Denmark's Baltic island of Bornholm. They are employed at a large farm in Denmark, where they are treated as the lowest of the low. It is ultimately their loving relationship which sustains them through a difficult year.
