[/teaser] Warner Brothers has announced a special 'National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation: Ultimate Collector's Edition' for Blu-ray on October 27. Much like last year's rerelease of 'A Christmas Story,' the Blu-ray itself will be identical to the 2006 'National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation' release, but it will be repackaged in a collectible tin with a replica of Clark's Santa hat, coasters, fake snow, and a moose figurine. Why Do You Pay More For Blu-Ray on Netflix?[teaser]Sure the discs are more expensive, but one theory is that cracked discs are behind the Blu-Ray rate hike.[/teaser] In life, as in engineering, one thing cannot be overstated: flexibility is important. This is especially true for discs traveling through the mail system without any sort of protective packaging. Seeking reasons for yet another rate increase for Blu-Ray rentals, The Consumerist’s Chris Walters theorizes that the issue may be the large amount of damaged discs. While at the moment we only have anecdotal evidence to go by, it does seem that Blu-Ray discs showing up damaged is far more commonplace than with traditional DVDs, and the cost to replace one is in most cases far greater. 'Wallace & Gromit' Short Films Coming to Blu-ray[teaser]Four shorts featuring the lovable claymation inventor and his trusty dog will be released on Blu-ray this fall. [/teaser] Hit Entertainment will enter the Blu-ray market with 'Wallace & Gromit: The Complete Collection' on September 22. The disc includes four shorts: 'A Grand Day Out,' 'The Wrong Trousers,' 'A Close Shave,' and 'A Matter of Loaf and Death.' Unfortunately the feature film 'Wallace & Gromit in: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit' won't be included since the rights belong to DreamWorks. Specs and features haven't been announced yet, but 'A Matter of Loaf and Death' will be presented in 1.78:1 aspect ratio while the other three shorts are 1.33:1.
