Michael Curtiz' classic 1942 musical is bound for Blu-ray later this year.
In an early announcement to retailers, Warner Archive is preparing 'Yankee Doodle Dandy' for Blu-ray in the near future.
This outstanding musical is about the life and times of George M. Cohan, playwright, entertainer, composer and patriot. The movie was nominated for eight Academy Award Nominations including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Story. Academy Awards: Best Actor--James Cagney, Best Sound Recording, Best Scoring of a Musical Picture.
Specs have yet to be revealed, but supplements will include: Leonard Maltin hosts Warner Night at the Movies 1942 with Casablanca trailer; 1942 newsreel; Warner Bros. short "Beyond the Call of Duty"; Warner Bros. vintage cartoon "Bugs Bunny Gets the Boid"; James Cagney in wartime short "You, John Jones"; Yankee Doodle Dandy theatrical trailer; Let Freedom Sing!: The Story of Yankee Doodle Dandy documentary; Audio commentary with Warner Bros. historian Rudy Behlmer; John Travolta remembers James Cagney" featurette; Audio-only extras – radio show and pre-recording session outtakes/rehearsals; and Vintage Warner Bros. cartoon "Yankee Doodle Daffy".
Suggested list price for the Blu-ray is still undetermined at this time.
