For four decades The Criterion Collection has been the standard bearer for high-quality home video releases. From LasterDisc to DVD to Blu-ray and 4K UHD, Criterion has delivered a unique and diverse catalog of films with world-class presentations and bonus features. Now they're celebrating with a massive box set!
Ever wonder what a 40-film 49-disc boxset from The Criterion Collection would look like? Well on November 19th, you're going to find out! The Criterion Collection celebrates its 40th Anniversary this year with a stylish (and massive) 40-film box set collecting a full range of their biggest and best hits from the ages.
As Brad Pitt once asked so eloquently "What's in the box!?! What's in the box?" - A LOT! Here's the film's you'll find:
The films: 8½ (1963), Tokyo Story (1953), All That Jazz (1979), Bicycle Thieves (1948), Repo Man (1984), Naked (1993), Jule
Obviously, this is a very niche collector's set. For a lot of folks, this might not be the greatest investment when so many of these films have been out for so long, it's big commitment for something that may live as an eccentric shelf piece. I personally have more than half of these. And last the SRP of $800 - that's another huge consideration for collectors (even if that averages down to a respectable $20 a flick).
At the moment this is only for sale on The Criterion Collection website shop, but we anticipate Amazon and other retailers to offer it up soon.
