A new take on the comic book hero will hit theaters in April.
Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment have released the first trailer for their big screen reboot of Hellboy. The film comes from director Neil Marshall and is set to premiere on April 12, 2019.
Based on the graphic novels by Mike Mignola, Hellboy, caught between the worlds of the supernatural and human, battles an ancient sorceress bent on revenge. Check out the trailer below!
The film stars David Harbour (Stranger Things) as Hellboy, along with Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil) as Nimue the Blood Queen, Ian McShane (Deadwood) as Professor Bruttenholm, Sasha Lane (American Honey) as Alice Monaghan, Thomas Haden Church (Spider-Man 3) as Lobster Johnson, Penelope Mitchell (Hemlock Grove) as Ganeida, and Daniel Dae Kim (Lost) as Ben Daimio.
Neil Marshall directs from a script written by Andrew Cosby (Eureka, Haunted) based on the Dark Horse Comic Book created by Mike Mignola. Marshall's previous work as a director includes the feature films Dog Soldiers,The Descent, and Centurion, along with episodes of Westworld, Lost in Space, Game of Thrones, and more.
The Hellboy character previously appeared on the big screen in director Guillermo del Toro's Hellboy (2004) and Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008). Ron Perlman played the title character and John Hurt played Professor Bruttenholm in those earlier films, along with Selma Blair as Liz Sherman and Doug Jones as Abe Sapien. The new movie will be a reboot with no connections to the previous installments.
