'Abzu' and 'No Man's Sky' Lead Sony's Indie Movement at E3

Sony's entire E3 briefing reached it's high point in the middle. Not when Nathan Drake crashed the party, not when Batman sprung out of his car, but when two indie games quietly tore open our expectations for games.

The first is 'No Man's Sky.' We've seen it before, but never like this, never in a way thatthe small developer's promise of a precedurally generated universe (and they really mean universe) felt completely and utterly possibly. As each player begins their game on a separate planet, they grow the world together as they leave the surface and seamlessly take to the stars. Watch the trailer:

And then there's the quieter 'Azbu,' which might as easily be described as 'Journey' underwater. It makes sense, because developer Giant Squid was created by a 'Journey' veteran and is being scored by Austin Wintory, 'Journey's' composer:

Both games have been described as making their console debut on Playstation consoles.
