The true story behind 'Doctor Who' will be revealed in this docudrama materializing on Blu-ray in May.
In an early announcement to retailers, the BBC is preparing 'Doctor Who: An Adventure in Space and Time' for Blu-ray on May 27.
Travel back in time to witness the dramatic birth of 'Doctor Who.' Actor William Hartnell (David Bradley, Filch from the 'Harry Potter' films, 'Game of Thrones') felt trapped by a succession of tough-guy roles. Wannabe producer Verity Lambert (Jessica Raine, 'Call the Midwife') was frustrated by the TV industry's glass ceiling. Both of them were to find unlikely hope and unexpected challenges in the form of a Saturday afternoon drama, time travel and monsters! Allied with a brilliant creative team, they went on to introduce the world to the longest running science fiction series ever, currently in its 50th year and counting.
Suggested list price for the 3-Disc Blu-ray/DVD combo pack has not been announced yet, but the Blu-ray will feature 1080p video, a DTS-HD MA 5.1 soundtrack, and supplements will include: The Making of An Adventure in Space and Time; William Hartnell : The Original Regeneration: Doctors 1, 2 and 3, Re-cast; Reconstruction: Four Sequences; Farewell: David Bradley; Christmas Greeting: David Bradley; Titles Sequence; Deleted Scene: Delia Derbyshire; and An Unearthly Child Bonus DVD with An Unearthly Child (1963): The first Doctor Who serial & Original Pilot of An Unearthly Child.
