'Adventures of Robin Hood' to Get Blu-ray Release

Warner has announced their latest "catch up" title to hit Blu-ray, bringing the 1938 classic 'The Adventures of Robin Hood' to the format this August.

Originally released on HD DVD back in 2007 to great acclaim from high-def fans, Warner will finally issue a Blu-ray version of the Oscar-winning Errol Flynn adventure on August 26.

Tech specs will mirror the previous HD DVD. Spread across a BD-50 dual-layer disc, a freshly-restored Technicolor print will be presented in 1080p/VC-1 video (1.37:1) and the original English Dolby Digital 1.0 Mono soundtrack. Also included is an isolated music-only track, also in Dolby mono.

Extras are comprehensive and extensive, including audio commentary by Film Historian Rudy Behlmer, Leonard Maltin's "Warner Night at the Movies 1938 featuring Vintage Newsreel" TV special, a pair of documentaries ("Welcome to Sherwood," "Glorious Technicolor"), a quartet of classic short subjects ("Rabbit Hood," "Robin Hood Daffy," "Cavalcade of Archery," "The Cruise of the Zaca"), outtakes, bloopers, a still gallery, radio show excerpts, and an Errol Flynn trailer gallery.

Suggested list price for the Blu-ray has been set at $28.95.
