Although they've previously denied such a release was in the works, it seems Disney may be on the verge of announcing a Blu-ray edition of 'Lost: The Complete Season Three.'
Late Tuesday, Amazon.com quietly began accepting pre-orders for the title, which is listed with a release date of December 11, 2007.
Regular readers may recall that word first leaked out in late May that the studio was planning a 'Lost' Blu-ray release for December, but Disney quickly put the kibosh on those rumors, issuing a statement that the that the studio had no current plans to release 'Lost' on Blu-ray this year.
Of course, the same statement similarly denied that the studio was planning a Blu-ray release of 'Badder Santa,' which was also rumored at the time. Two week later, the studio officially announced that 'Badder Santa' was indeed set for Blu-ray release in late October.
Whether or not the 'Lost' Amazon listing ends up being more than just a passing mirage remains to be seen, but our bet is that an official announcement is coming very shortly.
Amazon is listing the title with a retail price of $124.99 -- a full $65 more than the standard DVD, which has been officially announced for December 11, 2007.
For now, the Blu-ray edition of 'Lost: The Complete Third Season' remains safely tucked away in the "Release Dates Pending" section of our Blu-ray release schedule, but watch for it to spring in action if/when the studio makes an official announcement. Stay tuned...
