Standard definition concert/documentary double features focused on each legendary artist will hit Blu-ray in March.
In an early announcement to retailers, Eagle Rock is preparing 'Lou Reed: Transformer & Live At Montreux 2000' and 'Joni Mitchell: Woman of Heart & Mind / Painting With Words & Music' for Blu-ray on March 25.
Lou Reed: Transformer & Live At Montreux 2000 - The late Lou Reed's immense influence on Rock 'N' Roll cannot be quantified. Inducted into the Rock 'N' Roll Hall Of Fame, his time fronting The Velvet Underground and as a solo artist helped create the template of punk rock music and culture. 'Classic Albums: Transformer,' part of Eagle Rock's acclaimed documentary series, explores the creation and recording of Reed's legendary Transformer album through interviews with those involved, archive footage, and meticulous in-studio breakdowns of the songs. 'Live At Montreux' is mostly comprised of songs from his 2000 album Ecstasy, but also includes fan favorites like "Perfect Day" and "Dirty Blvd." On this performance, Reed is backed by his longtime band Mike Rathke (guitar), Tony "Thunder" Smith (drums), and Fernando Saunders (bass).
Joni Mitchell: Woman of Heart & Mind / Painting With Words & Music - One of the most distinguished and significant songwriters of her generation, Joni Mitchell, a multi-Grammy winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, has captured the hearts and minds of fans worldwide. 'The Woman Of Heart And Mind' documentary, which tells the story of her life and career, was hailed by Uncut Magazine as "a model of musical biography in DVD form...her life story in perfectly matched words, music, and images…" It's paired with the concert film 'Painting With Words And Music,' which was captured at Los Angeles' Warner's Lot, in a specially set up auditorium displaying a gallery of her own paintings. Filmed in the spring of 1998, the setting is warm and intimate, as Mitchell plays in the round with a small band, performing beloved tracks from across her career, like "Big Yellow Taxi," "Crazy Cries Of Love," and "Amelia."
Supplements have not been detailed yet but the Blu-rays will feature upscaled standard definition video and uncompressed stereo and DTS-HD MA soundtracks.
