Sony Pictures has launched a massive promotional campaign in celebration of the upcoming 'Ghostbusters' Blu-ray on June 16.
The campaign involves a premiere screening for the Blu-ray, an invitation to submit BD-Live content, a Comic-Con contest, and a coupon to save $5 off the Blu-ray.
First up is an "exclusive and free" Blu-ray Premiere viewing at midnight on June 3 at the Fine Arts Theater in Beverly Hills -- courtesy of Sony, Fangoria, Screening Services Group, and Atari. The entire high-definition film and bonus content will be previewed, and there will be "surprise celebrity guests" dropping by. This will also be the first opportunity to play Atari's Ghostbusters: The Video Game, and those waiting in line for the event can record video job applications to become a Ghostbuster. Complete details on this event can be found on the Fangoria website.
Sony Pictures has also put up a Ghostbusters is Hiring website where fans can enter to win a trip to Comic-Con 2010 in San Diego, tee shirts, hats, graphic novels, and other prizes. The site also has a printable coupon to save $5 off the Blu-ray of 'Ghostbusters' and in the near future, fans will be able to upload video applications to become the next member of the team. Sony will feature their favorites on the BD-Live network.
