Plot Synopsis:
In his directorial debut, Tom Volf brings to life the remarkable story of the legendary Greek/American opera singer Maria Callas. Told completely in her own words, the film includes performances, TV interviews, home movies, family photographs, private letters and unpublished memoirs, most of which have never been seen by the public.
Maria by Callas reveals the essence of an extraordinary woman who rose from humble beginnings in New York City to become a glamorous international superstar and one of the greatest artists of all time. The film is narrated by contemporary opera star Joyce DiDonato who has gained international prominence in operas by Handel and Mozart and is acclaimed for the bel canto roles of Rossini and Donizetti and her wide discography.
