Plot Synopsis:
Fric-Frac is French slang for 'breaking and entering'.
Marcel (Fernandel) works as an assistant to a jeweler named Mercadier whose bossy daughter Renee plans to marry because he is likeable, but a bit clueless. Unwittingly Marcel pushes he away pushes her away only to get mixed up with the lovely Loulou (the pretty and feisty Arletty) along with her lazy friend Jo -- a couple of delinquent pickpockets that he found fascinating. Soon after, Marcel ends up being an accomplice to their crime and the robbery of his boss' jewels -- but luckily just in time, the indomitable Renee intervenes.
This story, with the characters, is a metaphor for the Paris of the '30s, filed with atmosphere of a light romantic comedy and their repartee and sparring. It was shot between March and April 1939 in the Laboratories and Eclair Studios of Epinay-sur-Seine, near Paris.
