ExTerminators

Hey ladies, husband or boyfriend treating you like crap? Do you feel oppressed all day long? Is your femininity being taken for granted by your significant other? Are you just plain mad at the entire male population because they grunt, fart, and burp too much? Well have I got a deal for you! Want to solve your deadbeat boyfriend problems? Kill 'im. You heard me right. If you're tired of your cheating no-good drunk of a boyfriend, kill 'im. If you're tired of being emotionally abused by some unshaven redneck with a tank-top tan line, just kill 'im. Run their cars off cliffs. Stab them. Shoot them. Drown them. It's all perfectly fine if you're feeling like this is a relationship you shouldn't have to continue.

At least that's the world the delusional women from 'ExTerminators' live in. These women just can't pick the right guy. Instead they always end up falling for the moronic idiot who thinks naked women mudflaps are downright hilarious. In order to combat their own problems of picking the absolute worst males of the herd, they decide not to change their ways, but to just up and kill any man who's seen treating a woman less than ideal.

This isn't so much a revenge movie as it is a completely perverse way of viewing the world through female chauvinistic eyes.

Alex (Heather Graham) just had her boyfriend cheat on her. This is unbelievable for two reasons, 1) She's Heather Graham the same girl who played Rollergirl in 'Boogie Nights,' which I guess her boneheaded boyfriend never saw and 2) She's Heather freaking Graham. In order for us to think that it's possible that some poor schlub would cheat on Mrs. Graham she's given a ridiculously clichéd nerdy makeover complete with frumpy hair and gigantic glasses that no person in their right mind would ever buy. They extend from the middle of her forehead to around the lower part of her cheekbone. Since she's all geeked out we can assume that any guy would cheat on her right? I mean those glasses…they're so big!

Alex finds herself in an anger-management class after the fallout with her boyfriend happens. There she meets a variety of like-minded girls who have been soured on the world because men just totally suck and stuff. In the class Alex becomes friends with Stella (Jennifer Coolidge) and Nikki (Amber Heard). In a better movie this wouldn't have been that bad of a core cast, in this movie we forget that these three women have become household names, and instead we end up thinking, have any of them ever acted in their lives?

In short order the three of them set about starting up a business that specializes in dispatching unwanted boyfriends, husbands, and any other guys who treat women badly. Only thing is, there isn't a male in this movie that treats women decently. This is the same fallacy that rears its head in Hollywood movies where every girl is a drop-dead-gorgeous bi-curious air-headed bimbo who's as horny as five men (I'm looking at you Michael Bay). All the men here are slimy lowlifes that make cat-calls in bars and goose any semi-attractive ladies that walk by. I guess if the world were full of that many idiot man babies it would be their duty to put them all down. In truth, the only thing that needs putting down is this movie. If only there were an company out there that specialized in ridding the world of crappy straight to home video releases.

'ExTerminators' is presented in 1080p with the help of an AVC encode. It isn't without its faults, but for the most part it's a breezy, and light video presentation that doesn't require much to look relatively good. Colors do seem a tad muted, and fine detail could be better rendered as some soft shots hamper the overall look. There are times where blacks crush faces and detail, and other times where compression artifacts pop up in the darker scenes.

Other artifacts like aliasing and banding are visible at different points in the movie, but their overall affect on the picture is negligible. Facial detail is done well, with facial hairs and pores being visible during hard close-ups. Softness creeps in when the camera pulls back to get everything in. Skintones also portray an accurate and natural representation.

This isn't a transfer that you'll stick in to show off your HD gear, but it isn't one you'll be completely depressed with either.

This is where the Blu-ray presentation gets a little iffy. The 5.1 DTS-HD Master audio mix for 'ExTerminators' doesn't pack much of a punch. It's true that the movie is a more dialogue-centric movie that features much of its sound up front, but even when the mix is called upon during intense scenes we're still left with more of a whimper than a roar.

The mix is oddly front-centric when the girls force a man to drive his car off a cliff. A scene that could've used each and every one of the surrounding channels, instead forced much of the duty to the front channels. Dialogue, on the other hand, is perfectly intelligible and that's what you ask from a talkative movie like this. LFE is few and far between. When it is called to perform, during car crashes or the musical soundtrack, it's never that deep resonant bass we've become accustomed to.

This is one of those audio presentations that you'll just end up saying "Eh," to and never thinking about it again.

None! For this movie that's a good thing. Trust me.

This movie just rubbed me the wrong way. They took a very capable cast and turned them into a group of women that seemed like they'd never acted in their lives. It's a drag from beginning to end. A rotten movie, combined with an average video score and a slightly below average audio score, just skip this one altogether. I know what you're thinking, "Well, Aaron I would've never even heard about this movie until you mentioned it." I know, I know, just forget I ever said anything. One to avoid.
