The film is based on the true story of the national men's team during their low point in the early nineties. At that time, the Swedish team emerged as a new force and surpassed China in techniques. The iron-fist young coach (Deng Chao) stepped in to build a controversial new men's team - an injured lead player, a disillusioned veteran, a chop player with thousand-degree myopia, and a Gemini who lacked experience in major tournaments.
