Plot Synopsis:
The film is based on the true story of the national men's team during their low point in the early nineties. At that time, the Swedish team emerged as a new force and surpassed China in techniques. The iron-fist young coach (Deng Chao) stepped in to build a controversial new men's team - an injured lead player, a disillusioned veteran, a chop player with thousand-degree myopia, and a Gemini who lacked experience in major tournaments. Faced with both internal and external doubts, the head coach and his coaching staff insisted on drastic reforms, and the underdog "New Men's Five Tigers" played to their strength and finally won the Severin Cup at the 1995 World Cup.
