P. David Ebersole's documentary about Hole's drummer Patty Schemel is in the works for Blu-ray in June.

In an early announcement to retailers, Well Go USA is prepping 'Hit So Hard: The Life and Near Death Story of Drummer Patty Schemel' for a Blu-ray release on June 5.

Patty Schemel, the hard hitting drummer of Courtney Love's seminal rock band Hole, is not only a master of the sticks, but a true survivor. After growing up as an outsider near Seattle, she shot to stardom in the early 90's and was engulfed by the music scene. Patty casually documented her life as a rock star – at band practice, on the road, backstage, and in front of millions of people. She captured rare, precious moments behind the scenes with Hole and Kurt Cobain and the intense highs and lows of these dynamic relationships, often shaped by an addiction that consumed...and almost killed her.

Specs have yet to be revealed, but the release will be a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack and supplements include: Commentary with Patty Schemel and P. David Ebersole; Patty Schemel's private home movies; Q&A at the Museum of Modern Art with Hole and the filmmakers; and Teen Fan Really Can Play featurette.

Suggested list price for the Blu-ray is $29.98.

Another outrageous Japanese splatter film is gunning for Blu-ray in September.

In an early announcement to retailers, Well Go USA will be releasing 'Mutant Girls Squad' for a high-definition release on May 22.

Three leaders in the Japanese splatter movement -- Noboru Iguchi ('The Machine Girl'), Yoshihiro Nishimura ('Tokyo Gore Police') and Tak Sakaguchi ('Yoroi: Samurai Zombie') -- join forces to bring three times the heart-pounding action, three times the jaw-dropping comedy and three times the head-exploding splatter of your average action/horror/comedy with 'Mutant Girls Squad.'

A soon-to-be cult film from the prolific Japanese cult film label Sushi Typhoon, 'Mutant Girls Squad' is touted as a warped version of X-MEN, adapted into the violent, body-horror-filled universe of the three directors. The film stars Yumi Sugimoto, Yuko Takayama, Suzuka Morita and Naoto Takenaka.

Specs have yet to be revealed, but the Blu-ray/DVD combo pack will include Opening Day, The Making of Mutant Girls Squad, Interviews with filmmakers, and a short film: "Yoshi Zero".
