Disney Reveals Diamond Collection Blu-ray Plans

As previously reported, Walt Disney's Diamond Collection launches this October with 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,' and now the full line-up has been revealed.
The Diamond Collection will be comprised of fourteen of Disney's most historic and beloved animated classics on Blu-ray. Two titles will be given this very special treatment every year through 2016.
Beginning next year we will see 'Fantasia' in March and 'Beauty and the Beast' in October. The other films planned are 'The Lion King,' 'Bambi,' 'Cinderella,' 'Lady and the Tramp,' 'The Little Mermaid,' 'Peter Pan,' 'The Jungle Book,' and '101 Dalmatians.' The previously released 'Sleeping Beauty' and 'Pinocchio' will also be re-released at some point with the Diamond Collection treatment.

As part of the new Diamond Collection criteria, each film will be thoroughly restored to the highest level of picture and sound, feature groundbreaking, state-of-the-art immersive bonus content, and include unprecedented levels of interactivity, personalization and customization only made possible by Blu-ray technology. The Disney Diamond Collection will represent a major transformation of the home entertainment industry providing families with more engaging, entertaining experiences than any other format.

The new Diamond Collection takes full advantage of the newest breakthroughs in film restoration to exhibit these movies in Blu-ray Hi-Def, ensuring each film is digitally enhanced from its original negatives providing for the first time ever a pristine 1080p picture and Dolby Digital 7.1 surround sound.

'Lost: The Complete Fifth Season Dharma Initiation Kit' Announced for Blu-ray

As previously reported, 'Lost: The Complete Fifth Season' will hit Blu-ray on December 8.
Dedicated fans will be pleased to learn that Walt Disney Home Entertainment has also announced a collectible 'Lost: The Complete Fifth Season Dharma Initiation Kit.'
This edition will also contain the entire fifth season presented on five BD-50 Blu-ray discs featuring 1080p video, a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack, along with quite a few supplements, including featurettes and deleted scenes.
Exclusive to this set will be a bunch of Dharma Initiative related swag. Exact specifications for what kind of goodies this set will contain are still a bit foggy, however we do have a photo of the contents:
Suggested list price for the collection has been set at $134.00. If that VHS tape is real, you might want to start checking for VCRs on ebay now. If that VHS tape is really a case for a DVD, well, then we feel old.

Disney Details 'Race to Witch Mountain' Blu-ray

Walt Disney Home Entertainment has released final details for 'Race to Witch Mountain' which is coming to Blu-ray late this summer.
The family adventure starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will be available in high-definition on August 4.
The Blu-ray will feature 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 (2.35:1) video, a lossless soundtrack, and supplements including Deleted Scenes - With commentary by director Andy Fickman; Bloopers - Dwayne Johnson and the cast crack up over on-set mistakes; Dylan & Cole Sprouse: Blu-ray™ Is Suite!; Learn How To Take Your Favorite Movies On The Go; BACKSTAGE DISNEY: Which Mountain? - Director Andy Fickman reveals the film's hidden references to the original movies, Escape to Witch Mountain and Return from Witch Mountain; and D-Box functionality.
The Blu-ray will also come with a digital copy as well as a DVD version of the film.
Suggested list price for the Blu-ray has been set at $44.99.
