Marvel Animated 3-Movie Collections Announced for Blu-ray

Get ready for 'The Avengers' to assemble in theaters on May 4 with two bargain priced Marvel triple features coming to Blu-ray in April.

In an early announcement to retailers, Lionsgate is preparing to release 'Marvel Animated Features 3-Movie Collection' and 'Ultimate Avengers Movie Collection' on Blu-ray on April 24.

These films were the first-ever full-length animated movies from Marvel and star some of the most popular super heroes in the Marvel Universe while staying true to the best-selling comic book roots. These collections give fans of all ages their favorite characters in two convenient sets.

'Marvel Animated Features 3-Movie Collection' includes 'Planet Hulk,' 'The Invincible Iron Man,' and 'Doctor Strange.'

'Ultimate Avengers Movie Collection' includes 'Ultimate Avengers 1&2' and 'Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow.'

Suggested list price for each Blu-ray set is only $19.99.

'Madonna: Truth or Dare' Blu-ray Dated and Detailed

Madonna's controversial 1991 documentary is getting the high-definition treatment in April.

In an early announcement to retailers, Lionsgate is preparing to release 'Madonna: Truth or Dare' on Blu-ray on April 3.

From the rain of Japan, through threats of arrest for 'public indecency' in Canada, and a birthday tribute to her father in Detroit, this documentary follows Madonna on her 1990 'Blond Ambition' concert tour. Filmed in black and white, with the concert pieces in glittering MTV color, it is an intimate look at the work of the music performer, from a prayer circle with the dancers before each performance to bed games with the dance troupe afterwards.

The Blu-ray will feature 1080p video, a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack, and the original theatrical trailer.

Suggested list price for the Blu-ray is still undetermined at this time.

'Kate and Leopold' & 'Bounce' Announced for Blu-ray

Two catalog Miramax romantic comedies are coming to Blu-ray in April.

In an early announcement to retailers, Lionsgate says 'Kate and Leopold' and 'Bounce' will hit Blu-ray on April 10.

'Kate & Leopold: Director's Cut' - Hollywood mega-talents Meg Ryan ('You've Got Mail') and Hugh Jackman (the 'X-Men' trilogy) star in this romantic comedy about a modern 21st century woman who falls for a dashing 19th century man. Co-written and directed by James Mangold ('Walk the Line'), the film also stars Liev Schreiber ('X-Men Origins: Wolverine') and Breckin Meyer (TV's "Franklin & Bash"). The film's theme song, Sting's "Until," received an Oscar® nod for Best Original Song (2001). The Blu-ray premiere includes audio commentary with Mangold, deleted scenes with commentary, a behind-the-scenes featurette, a costume featurette and a photo gallery.

Two strangers find love amidst unusual circumstances in 'Bounce.'' Oscar® winners Gwyneth Paltrow (Best Actress in a Leading Role, 'Shakespeare in Love,' 1998) and Ben Affleck (Best Original Screenplay, 'Good Will Hunting,' 1997) create sparks in their onscreen pairing. Written and directed by Don Roos ("Happy Endings"), the romantic drama also stars Natasha Henstridge ('The Whole Nine Yards'), Tony Goldwyn ('Ghost') and Jennifer Grey ('Dirty Dancing'). The Blu-ray premiere also includes audio commentary with the writer/director and producer, scene-specific commentary with Roos, Affleck and Paltrow, deleted scenes with commentary, a gag reel, a music video and behind-the-scenes and "making of" featurettes.

Suggested list price for each Blu-ray is $14.99.

The complete six-part BBC series from Aardman Animations is in the works for Blu-ray this March.

In an early announcement to retailers, Lionsgate is preparing to release 'Wallace & Gromit's World of Invention' on Blu-ray on March 13.

'Wallace & Gromit's World of Invention' sees world-renowned inventor Wallace and his faithful sidekick (turned camera dog) Gromit turn their hand to presenting for the very first time, hosting a six-part series from the basement of 62 West Wallaby Street. They take an enthusiastic look at some real life cracking contraptions, from gadgets that help around the home to the mind-boggling world of space travel and much more in between.

Specs have yet to be revealed, but supplements will include: Your World of Invention - a featurette on building "cracking contraptions" at home.

Suggested list price for the Blu-ray is $14.99.

John Frankenheimer's 2000 crime romance is getting a director's cut Blu-ray release in March.

In an early announcement to retailers, Lionsgate is preparing to release 'Reindeer Games: The Director's Cut' on Blu-ray on March 6.

Oscar® winners Ben Affleck (Best Original Screenplay, 'Good Will Hunting,' 1997) and Charlize Theron (Best Actress in a Leading Role, 'Monster,' 2003) team up in the non-stop action drama, directed by John Frankenheimer ('Ronin').

Specs have yet to be revealed, but supplements will include: Audio commentary with John Frankenheimer, behind-the-scenes featurette, and eight scenes as they appeared in the theatrical cut.

Suggested list price is $19.99.

The era of sex, drugs, and questionable dancing comes alive with an all-star cast including Ryan Phillippe ('The Lincoln Lawyer') and Oscar® nominee Salma Hayek (Best Actress in a Leading Role, 'Frida,' 2002) with Neve Campbell (the 'Scream' series) and Mike Myers (the 'Austin Powers' series).

Is the classic 1979 comedy heading to Camp Blu-ray in February?

According to this Wal-Mart listing, it looks like Lionsgate may be getting ready to release 'Meatballs' on Blu-ray on February 21.

Bill Murray, star of "What About Bob?", "Scrooged", "Ghostbusters", and "Stripes" is an off-the-wall head counselor in this riotous send-up of summer camp, directed by Ivan Reitman, the producer of "Twins", "National Lampoon's Animal House" and "Ghostbusters". Murray is Tripper, the most creative activites director in the whole North Woods, who guides a fun-seeking collection of lovable campers and libidinous staff members through the unique pleasures of a coed summer experience. The wildest summer Camp North Star ever had begins quietly with a runaway camper, an accidental blackout and Tripper's amorous attack on a female counselor. Insanity builds with the most hilarious Parent's Day on record, a scary overnight canoe trip, and the Olympiad - a traditional competition between North Star and the rich kids of neighboring Camp Mohawk. A talented, high-spirited cast, an unlikely romance, and a gang of warm, wicked, wonderful campers are all part of the fireside recipe for "Meatballs": mix togeter outrageousness, irreverence and hysterical fun...and take home a comedy smash.

In an early announcement to retailers, Lionsgate is readying 'Nurse Jackie: Season Three' starring Edie Falco for Blu-ray on February 21.

In an early announcement to retailers, Lionsgate is working on 'Weeds: Season Seven' starring Mary-Louise Parker and Kevin Nealon for Blu-ray on February 21.

After serving 3 years in the joint, the onetime suburban soccer mom is making a fresh start in New York City and going back to doing what she does best...selling pot. But when some old friends return, they could send everything up in flames.

Nope, it's not an ab workout video, it's John Singleton's action-thriller starring Taylor Lautner, and it's getting the high-definition treatment in January!

In an early announcement to retailers, Lionsgate is preparing 'Abduction' for Blu-ray on January 17.

For as long as he can remember, Nathan has had an unsettling feeling about his life. His feeling is confirmed when he stumbles upon a photograph of him as a child on a missing persons website. Just as he begins to uncover the truth about his identity, he finds himself having to run for his life.

The release will feature 1080p video, a DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 soundtrack, and supplements include: Abduction Chronicle production journal with Taylor Lautner, Initiation of an Action Hero: Taylor's Amazing Stunts, The Fight For The Truth: Making Abduction, Pulled Punches gag reel, and the Blu-ray exclusive Abduction Application.
