Trio of Jeff Dunham Titles Headed to Blu-ray

Making his next-gen debut, comic Jeff Dunham will bring a trio of his best-selling comedy routines to Blu-ray this November courtesy of Image Entertainment.
Due for release on November 18, Dunham's latest 'Very Special Christmas Special' will hit high-def day-and-date with the standard DVD, where it will also be joined by the previously-released stand-up comedy specials 'Arguing with Myself' and 'Spark of Insanity.'
Extras on 'Very Special Christmas Special' include never-before-seen material and a music video, while 'Spark of Insanity' boasts an audio commentary with Dunham and cast, outtakes, and bonus clips. There are no announced extras for 'Arguing with Myself.'
There are no tech specs available for any of the titles, but we'll keep you posted.
Also due for release on November 18 is the 'Jeff Dunham 3-Pack,' a bundle that includes all three titles. Specs and extras are identical to the stand-alone versions.
Suggested list price has been set at $29.98 for the stand-alone releases and $89.98 for the bundle.

'Encounters at the End of the World' Coming to Blu-ray

Image Entertainment has announced plans to bring the acclaimed Werner Herzog documentary 'Encounters at the End of the World' to Blu-ray this November.
Traveling thousands of miles to Antarctica to capture the beauty of the cold wilderness as never seen before, 'Encounters at the End of the World' will see its Blu-ray debut on November 18, day-and-date with the standard DVD.
Extras shared between the Blu-ray and DVD include audio commentary with Herzog and producers Henry Kaiser and Peter Zeitlinger, six featurettes, and a Herzog interview hosted by filmmaker Jonathan Demme.
Tech specs will see a BD-50 dual-layer presentation with 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video and English DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround audio.
Suggested retail price for the Blu-ray has been set at $34.95.

'The Who: Kilburn 1977' Coming to Blu-ray

Image Entertainment has announced a November Blu-ray release for the classic concert film 'The Who: Kilburn 1977.'
Capturing the band's return to the London stage after a year-long hiatus, 'Kilburn 1977' features legendary live performances of such classics as 'Behind Blue Eyes,' 'My Generation' and 'Baba O'Riley.'
Image Entertainment will release 'Kilburn 1977' on November 18, day-and-date with the standard DVD.
Tech specs include 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video (1.78:1) and audio options in English DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround, Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround and Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo.
Extras include a performance by The Who at the Coliseum in 1969 -- a never-before-seen full length concert with the first complete live performance of "Tommy." This extra concert is comprised of unrestored footage from the original 16mm films with all the inherent technical problems included. Sound specs include English DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround, Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround, and Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo. Also included is a trailer for The Who At Kilburn 1977

Trio of IMAX Titles Bound for Blu-ray

Image Entertainment has announced that a trio of new titles, including 'Dolphins,' , Coral Reef Adventure,' and 'The Living Sea' will anchor its rescheduled October wave of Blu-ray IMAX releases.
Originally schedule for late 2007, Image bumped 'Dolphins' and 'The Living Sea' from its schedule. Both titles have now received a new date of November 11, where they will be joined by another IMAX favorite making it's next-gen debut, 'Coral Reef Adventure.'
Tech specs include 1080p video (recomposed at 1.78:1) and English DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround.
At press time, there were no announced extras. We'll let you know of any spec changes as they come to us.
Suggested retail price for each title has been set $24.95.

Korn's 'Live on the Other Side' Headed to Blu-ray

Image Entertainment has announced plans to bring Korn's 2006 concert film 'Live on the Other Side' to Blu-ray this October.
Captured entirely with HD cameras at the Hammerstein Ballroom, the band's stop on its "See You On The Other Side" tour features 17 songs, including the such hits "Freak on a Leash" and "Come Undone."
Due day-and-date with the standard DVD, Image will release the Blu-ray 'Korn: Live on the Other Side' on October 7. (The release is the second from Korn, following this week's Blu-ray premiere of 'Korn: Live at Montreux.')
Tech specs include 1080i video (1.78:1) and audio options in English DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround, Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround and Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo.
Extras include two featurettes ("See You on the Other Side," "Who's on the Other Side"), a music video for "Come Undone," and a jukebox function.
Suggested retail price for the Blu-ray has been set at $24.95.

'Stuck' Blu-ray to Scare Up October Debut

Just in time for Halloween, Image Entertainment is bringing the horror chiller 'Stuck' to Blu-ray in early October.
Starring Mena Suvari as a hard-partying career girl who runs over (and eventually holds captive) a homeless man, the Stuart Gordon-starrer will follow a limited theatrical run to hit Blu-ray on October 7 (day-and-date with the standard DVD).
Tech specs include 1080p video and English DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround audio (with English and Spanish subtitle options).

'When We Left Earth' Gets September Blu-ray Blast-Off

Image Entertainment has announced a late-September next-gen release for the Discovery Channel documentary series 'When We Left Earth.'
Chronicling the historic early days of the NASA space program, 'When We Left Earth: The NASA Mission' is culled from hundreds of hours of never-before-seen film footage including historic space flights, and features narration by Gary Sinise.
Image will street the Blu-ray on September 30, day-and-date with the standard DVD.
Featuring all six episodes ("Ordinary Supermen," "Friends and Rivals," "Landing the Eagle," "The Explorers," "The Shuttle," "Home in Space") spread across four discs, tech specs boast 1080 video (1.78:1) and DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround.
According to TV Shows On DVD, interview subjects include "astronauts Gene Kranz, John Glenn, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, Jim Lovell, Fred Haise, Bob Crippen, and John Young."

Starring Helen Hunt, Matthew Broderick, and Bette Midler in a drama about love and destiny, 'Then She Found Me' enjoyed a brief theatrical run and will hit Blu-ray on September 9 (day-and-date with the standard DVD).

Image Entertainment has announced an August Blu-ray debut for the supernatural drama 'The Secret.'
Starring David Duchovny and Lili Taylor as a married couple who find themselves embroiled in spectral happenings, 'The Secret' (not related to the publishing and DVD phenomena of the same name) will hit Blu-ray on August 12, day-and-date with the standard DVD.
Tech specs include 1080p video and English DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround audio (with English and Spanish subtitle options).

Roy Orbison Goes 'Black & White' on Blu this July

Image Entertainment has announced the latest addition to its Blu-ray music catalog, setting an early-July debut for 'Roy Orbison: A Black & White Night.'
Featuring over a dozen Orbison favorites and a star-studded guest list including Bruce Springsteen, k.d. lang, Bonnie Raitt, and Tom Waits, 'Roy Orbison: A Black & White Night' will premiere on Blu-ray July 8. (Image previously released an HD DVD edition back in November 2007.)
Comparable to the HD DVD, video is presented in 1080i/VC-1 (1.78:1), with a DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround track filling in for the Dolby TrueHD.
The lone supplement is a bonus song, "Blue Angel."
Suggested list price for the Blu-ray has been set at $24.99.
