Sony Pictures has announced a May Blu-ray arrival for the Diane Lane serial killer thriller 'Untraceable.'

Harped by critics as "'Silence of the Lambs' meets torture porn," thanks to its story of Lane tracking a serial killer who uses the internet to stage elaborate murder scenarios, 'Untraceable' scared up nearly $30 million at the domestic box office during its theatrical run earlier this year. Sony will debut the Blu-ray on May 13, day-and-date with the standard DVD.

Extras for both versions will include an audio commentary with director Gregory Hoblit, and four making-of featurettes.

There are no tech specs yet, but we'll keep you posted.

Retail for the Blu-ray has been set at $38.95.

You'll find the latest specs for 'Untraceable' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule, where it's indexed under May 13.

Warner Home Entertainment will bring the George Clooney thriller 'Michael Clayton' to both high-def disc formats this February.

Starring Clooney as an in-house "fixer" at one of the most prestigious law firms in New York, 'Clayton' received rave reviews upon its theatrical release this October, and was recently nominated for four Golden Globes, including Best Picture.

Clearly hoping to capitalize on awards season buzz for the title, Warner will release the likely Oscar nominee on Blu-ray, HD DVD/DVD combo disc and standard DVD on February 19th, just five days before this year's Academy Awards Ceremony.

Tech specs for the two next-gen editions include identical 1080p/VC-1 encodes, and Dolby Digital 5.1 audio (the HD DVD edition will carry the "Plus" designator) -- sadly, Warner has not opted to include Dolby TrueHD or uncompressed PCM.

Extras to be shared among all versions include deleted scenes and an audio commentary with writer/director Tony Gilroy and editor John Gilroy. No high-def exclusive supplements were planned at press time.

Warner has announced a suggested retail price for both next-editions of $35.99.

As always, you'll find disc details for 'Michael Clayton' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule and HD DVD Release Schedule, indexed under February 19, 2008.

'Dispatch: Zimbabwe' Bound For Blu-ray, HD DVD

Indie rock band Dispatch is headed to HD DVD and Blu-ray disc this January with the release of their recent reunion concert, 'Dispatch: Zimbabwe - Live at Madison Square Garden.'

One of only a handful of bands to rise to prominence without the backing of a major record label, the Boston trio had not played together since their legendary farewell concert in 2004, but when it was announced that they planned to reunite for a three-night stint at Madison Square Garden this summer to help raise awareness and money for people hit by worsening political and economic conditions in Zimbabwe, tickets sold out in just 30 minutes per concert.

'Dispatch: Zimbabwe - Live at Madison Square Garden' features the complete 16-track two-hour concert, captured entirely in high-definition. Self-produced by the Boston-based trio's own Bomber Records label, Warner Music Group will handle distribution for the cross format home video bow, which is due January 29, 2008 on standard DVD, Blu-ray and HD DVD/DVD combo disc. (The band is also releasing a limited Collector's edition DVD in mid-December via their own website).

Bonus features shared by all of the January disc releases are expected to include four extra songs, the "Tree With No Name" documentary on the current situation in Zimbabwe, plus additional band interviews and an outtake reel.

Tech specs for the high-def editions have not yet been announced, but you can read the full details for the standard-def DVD at the band's official website. We'll keep you posted as soon as final specs for the high-def versions are confirmed.

Suggested list price for the Blu-ray and HD DVD will be $29.99 a pop, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Dispatch Foundation's ongoing efforts in Zimbabwe.

In the studio's first dual-format day-and-date high-def release, New Line will bring the Oscar-winning 'Pan's Labyrinth' to Blu-ray and HD DVD this December.

Ever since New Line finally announced it was jumping into high-def with last month's announcement of 'Hairspray,' 'Pan's Labyrinth' has been one of the most highly-anticipated catalog titles for next-gen release in the studio's library. Now the wait is over, and both HD DVD and Blu-ray fans will be able to feast on Guillermo Del Toro's highly-acclaimed, multiple Oscar-winning fairy tale when it streets December 26.

New Line will be pulling out all the stops for 'Labyrinth,' which will come loaded with bonus features. Among the extras is a video prologue and audio commentary by Del Toro, two featurettes, an interactive "Director's Notebook," extensive storyboard and still galleries, an excerpt from the "Charlie Rose Show" with Del Toro, and a Marketing Campaign gallery with trailers and other ad materials.

Exclusive to the high-def versions will be an enhanced picture-in-picture video commentary with cast & crew interviews and behind-the-scenes footage, while the HD DVD will also enjoy web-enabled content (to be announced at a future date).

Tech specs are equally impressive, with 1080p video (codec TBA) and a DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio track in 7.1 Surround -- so far the studio's first high-def title to be confirmed with high-resolution audio.

Retail for both next-gen editions is $35.99.

'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix' Gets Blu-ray, HD DVD Date; 'Years 1-5' Also Due

Rejoice, muggles! Warner Home Video has issued specs and a December date for 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix' on Blu-ray and HD, as well as initial plans for a 'Years 1-5' limited edition box set.

One of the most eagerly-awaited franchises on high-def, Warner has finally ended over seventeen months of speculation by confirming a December 11 next-gen arrival date for the fifth and latest in the blockbuster series, 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,' day-and-date with the standard-def DVD release.

As the studio has done with several recent high-profile titles, however, the Blu-ray and the HD DVD editions will not be created equal.

Not unlike the recently-released '300' and 'Blood Diamond,' the HD DVD edition of 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix' will contain a trio of exclusive bonus features, including a "In-Movie Experience" video commentary featuring "the cast from Dumbledore's Army coming together to share memorable moments," the ability to "Pick Your Favorite Scenes" and assemble your favorite clips from the movie into a montage, and additional web-enabled content including downloads and other goodies to be announced.

Extras shared between the HD DVD, Blu-ray and two-disc standard-def DVD version include an A&E documentary, "Trailing Tonks" and "Fun and Games" featurettes, additional "Focus Points" making-of vignettes, and ten minutes of never-before-seen deleted scenes.

Warner has not yet released tech specs for the high-def releases, so it's unknown whether or not high-resolution audio will be supported. We'll keep you posted.

List price will be $39.98 for the HD DVD version, and $34.98 for the Blu-ray.

The studio has also announced that they will bring a 'Harry Potter Years 1-5: Limited Edition Giftset' to both high-def formats concurrent with 'Order of the Phoenix' on December 11 for a list price of $149.98. However, full details on what will be included in the set -- as well as whether the first four installments in the series will be made available as separate stand-alone releases -- is set to be revealed shortly in a separate announcement.

You'll find disc details for 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule and HD DVD Release Schedule, where the title is indexed under December 11. Stay tuned for final specs, as well as additional details on 'Years 1-5,' to be come soon.
