It stores and copies up to 320 discs at once to a compatible server.

Sure, it's not something everyone can afford, but Blu-ray servers are just plain cool. Being able to store your entire collection digitally and recall it at any time without having to go switch discs and whatnotis just incredible. Of course, there's still the issue of getting all those discs onto your server. For Kaleidescape users, the solution has arrived.

The M700 Disc Vault holds 320 discs at a time and copies them onto your system without requiring any work on your end. CDs import at 15 an hour, and DVDs at three an hour. You'll only be able to copy two Blu-rays an hour, so if you've got the full complement of 320 discs you can expect to be waiting a week or so for everything to be imported.

"The M700 Disc Vault is an elegant addition to our product family that makes it easy to import your content, provides a safe place to store your discs, and makes it quick and easy to retrieve any disc when you need it," says Kaleidescape founder Michael Malcom.

The M700 is available now at a price of $5,995.

The server eliminates load times, and can give you Blu-ray access from any room in the house.

"Blu-ray offers the highest fidelity for my discerning clients, but if you thought watching a DVD was frustrating, just try a Blu-ray Disc." These are the sentiments of Jeff Cherun, owner of Teatro Custom Installation.

He's not bagging on the high definition picture and he's not downplaying the importance of great audio - he's talking about load times. "With the Kaleidescape System," he says, "you're enjoying any of your Blu-ray movies in seconds instead of minutes. My customers will never go back to an ordinary Blu-ray player."

That system, which has been unveiled piece by piece over the last year or so, is finally shipping in full. With the Kaleidescape system, you're able to back up your Blu-rays onto a server and play them back at your leisure in any room with a Kaleidescape player.

The Modular Disc Vault is the final piece of the puzzle. It allows you to import and store up to 100 discs at once. That's essential, since you'll still need the disc in the vault to play it - an anti piracy measure.
