Sony Confirms 3D Blu-ray Players for 2010 – And Then Doesn’t

”Nothing has been confirmed as yet” says Sony.
Yoshinami Takahashi, deputy senior general manager over at Sony made some bold statements on the future of 3D movies on Blu-ray; statements that apparently forced Sony to add additional commentss later that day. Takashi, for example, predicted that the 3D Blu-ray format would be agreed upon and ready for production by the end of 2009. In a statement from Sony to Cnet Australia, however, it was clarified that “If the 3D Blu-ray format, which is currently being tested, is confirmed and goes into production, we would be hoping to see 3D Blu-ray players by the end of next year, however, nothing has been confirmed as yet."
Takahashi also made a somewhat negative statement on the technology, stating that short form video such as cartoons will be the most in demand, since many viewers suffer from headaches and nausea when viewing full length 3D titles. Sony said of this “Sony would like to point out that they will ensure all testing is done prior to the launch of 3D to ensure consumers have the best experience with this new technology and the range of 3D content.”
